Bovell vs. Lara
« on: April 15, 2004, 01:17:42 AM »
ok guys
we all know that I love cricket and that I love lara
however, we have to give "jack his jacket", we have a rising star in Bovell a trini swimmer, who has recently broken a world record..... most of you might not know this or may have forgotten by now...

but why...
why is it that lara was on the front page for 3 days? and Bovell not once?
why is it the PM is giving Lara an "unprecidented and extraordinary gift" and Bovell got $100,000.00.

We have to question in this country if we are encouraging diverse sports, we cannot only focuse on cricket and football..... if we show our citizens we encourage all sports such as swimming, track and field etc. then they will strive to do better.

I think Bovell got a rather short end of the stick and I think it is not fair....

any comments would be greatly appreciated... or am I the only one who shares this view?

i think we need to try to come away from that sterotype
swimming takes alot of ability
and it very testing........
it is a sport. even more so than hockey, golf, (i am not diverse in anyothers) and any others that do not appear in the olympic games.....

i guess we need to work on that mentality
and i am sure if bovell gets gold in the olympics
swimming go be the best sport for trinidadians

p.s. he did better than Ato has ever done....

all of allyuh ****in possers you think u can swim a 200m IM without so much as getting tired

swimming takes most stamina out of all sports. I would know i swim competitve, although i'm not entirely fast it takes alot of dedication and time

i remember when i was still going fatima before i leave, there was this venezualan guy who was in my form(3)
he use to wake up every morning at 4am to swim for an hour then agan after to skool spend his whole evening swimming

so who's allyuh to dis swimming

on the plus side at swim meets there's muy chicas calientes

p.s. he did better than Ato has ever done....

Ato Boldon was on Call For Help.
Ato Boldon has Olympic medals.  The most in athletics since the immortal Hasely Crawford.
Ato Boldon actually was a 200 metre World Champion.
Ato helped Marc Burns and the talanted youths that Trinidad have in athletics.

Ato Boldon continues the long legacy of exellence that comes from Fatima College that encompasses himself, Brian Charles Lara, and my good self.

ATO WINS!  FLAWLESS VICTORY!

But under all the old talk, big up to Bovell.  The man hot, and he has a very good chance of medalling in the next Olympics.

I might be a shock to you young'uns, but this is about the best tme to be a sports watcher from Trinidad and Tobago as I can remember.

It have nuff world-class men with talant out there, that could be at the top (or near it) on any given day.

Brian.  Ato.  Marc.   Russell.  Dwight.  George.   The shot-put chick.  Many, many others.

hmm...Lara gets the support cuz it's for a sport that holds tradition within the West Indies, so he would get more recognised, but i think if Bovell keeps up his form, he will get his just rewards. :)
