geforce FX 6800 : ultimate power
«

the main differences between the 6800 ultra and the previous FX cards are
support for direct X 9 C : up to 65,535 shader operations per pass versus 256 of direct X 9
16x pixel pipelines : 2x the fill rate over the 5950
GDD3 : DDR II at 1GHZ
http://www.gamespy.com/articles/505/505998p1.html
as you can see it totally murders the 9800XT in everything, but nvidia LIED again , they said 4x the performance of the 5950! this isn't even 2x!
the Radeon X800XT will be handed out to benchmarks sites later this month , it isn't supposed to have shader 9.0C but ATi's shaders are already almost as fast as nvidia's current models.
its an exciting time for all gamers by april we could probably get a 9800 pro for less than 150!

SCREW NVIDIA
http://www20.tomshardware.com/graphic/2004...ce_6800-46.html
dey TIEFIN performance by buring textures!
de ATI RV420 will pwn it .
even if you can't get the 500 USD 6800 ultra /X-800XT theywill make all the older models cheap, and there will be a 6800 non ultra / X-800 pro for around 350 USD , an even cheaper X-800 LE/6600 or 6700 for around 200 and an X-800SE/ 6400 for 150 .
All of them will be as fast or faster than the current card for the same price, the ones that are as fast will use less power and be smaller .

The Tom's Hardware and Anandtech reviews were great reading material and all I can say is holy f00kin crap...the numbers are way off what I, or most anyone for that matter, would have expected when you consider the incremental increases that past generations have made with each step up...
nVidia has taken all the criticism from their GF5 series of cards to heart and have produced quite an amazing piece of hardware, which they would have to, cos falling short for a second time would prolly seriously cripple them...they really bolted out the gates with this one...can't wait to see what ATI has up their sleeve to answer this...especially considering that the X800 is rumoured to not have shader 3.0 compliance and ATI has allegedly been trying to play down the importance of such.
My only concern at this point is that it requires 2 ATX power supply connectors...good grief, it was bad enough dat they wanted the 1 floppy connector....but now 2 HDD connectors?!? I'll definitely need to upgrade my PSU for the likes of this...but all in a timin oui.
For the while...way to go nVidia...looks like a winner to me. ATI hadda come REAL good now to outshine this. Remember, getting to the top isn't nearly as hard as staying there. Cos when you're at the top...you have nowhere but down to go...best of luck to both of them I say.

220 million tranisistors don't be a little power needs lots .a p4 3ghz chip today can draw as much power as a 1994 system on total . it won't be to no surprise if the ati card has better or same or even less performance it going to need more power than the 9800 xt . more speed mean more power need simple law

Common sense eh?
What is this common sense that you speak of...and more importantly...where can I find my copy?

Nvidia is back.
Damn sure looks that way to me too. Overhyped or not, they've put out some astounding benchmark figures with this one.

So much damn power being sucked into one video card? That is too much current for one card IMO, I'm not sacrificing so much power for a video card. Alas I can only say well well well when it comes to the 6800, but I'm a ATI lover to the bone and I have total faith in ATI, so much so that I know they will be crowned once again in this new war of the cards. Just left to wait and see now.

why should we care about the new cards??? The most important aspect should be the drop in prices for the previously high end cards. sure the new cards will be great (and at a great price also) but i can now get a 9800pro for 200us. so keep the cards coming

i will also have blind faith in ati.... they have never made a failed line of cards, some of they'r models may not have sold well.. but they were NEVER failures.

I will say it again too make sure everyone see it
. More speed mean more power the geforce 6800 got more transistors than the cpu of most chips so it need the power . As for the fan boys . which ever one the best performance and image quality always wins but price is always a factor

I've always ever been a nVidia fan, but recenlty ATI won me over with their R300 series of cards (9700 Pro etc). However, I predicted that nVidia would prolly climb back to the top within a few production cycles...it sure does look to me that my prediction was spot on...but I anxiously await April 26, when ATI will finally unveil the R420 series to the masses, to see what they will bring to the table to battle the GF6 series...

cant really argue who is the best, just have to be thankful that there isnt a monopoly, and we all know what happens when there is a monopoly,
some of the most hated ones: microsoft, tstt, cctv etc

lol @ fan boys indeed
lol real hard @ bg blocking the gatt site. Ent!! is all those damn spammers using "bad words" that caused it! Kill dem all!!!
/me FOAKs the nearest spammer
Serious cards on the horizon, serious power.
As always, the best ting about this...is the older gen cards are going to fall in price. The power requirements are a bit a steep, but face it, if you spent us$500 on a video card, having a high performance, industrial grade powersupply should be no problem.
For the poor gamer, there will always be low end alternatives and flavours of the card without such demanding power needs.
It's a good day to game.
