well, technically, he never asked you or anyone for "their" gold.  He was asking back for his own gold.  And it doesn't matter if he celebrates christmas or not, he can still ask for the person to do something in keeping in the christmas spirit.

I for one think that it's kind of F'd up what happened and even though it won't be alot, I will donate some gold.
