on Dec the 17 it will premiere in the us
it has already open in new zealand
and it will grace us here in T&T on Christmas Day

aye before watching this i suggest watching lotr extended edition dvd! so when you watch this you wont be at all clueless and will understand better

DSPictures is releasing the movie on christmas day to promote sales for the movie on the holiday. Wants to see how many die hard fans will come out to see it on xmas day.

It will be big no doubt,but not any event of a lifetime.
A story that's been availible for 50 years can't have that much surprise associated wih it.

Unless it's surprise about how much Peter Jackson **** up d movie.
If he's changes the part with the Black Fleet I'll hunt his ass down.

RotK is 3hr 20 mins total however the extended version shuld definitely hit 4 hours.Here's an excerpt from an article:

DUDE, WHERE'S THE 'LORD OF THE RINGS' ENDING?
Next Wednesday, the concluding chapter of The Lord Of The Rings
trilogy, The Return Of The King, debuts in theaters. "Lucky" fans will
spend all of December 17th in a darkened theater watching the extended
version of the first two films back-to-back before the world-wide
premier of the last film.

And after 11+ hours of cinematic glory, the die-hard fans may be
hardpressed to leave given that the trilogy has 12 different endings.
Fret not Tolkeinites, this isn't some shameless ploy by New Line ala
Clue to make you come back and see the movie again and again until you
see all 12 endings. Every copy of the film contains all 12 endings in
succession which may account for the fact that this installment, at
three hours and 20 minutes, is the longest of the bunch.

And just think, next year at this time, there will be an even longer
extended version of The Return Of The King that will probably approach
four hours in length. So much for last minute Christmas shopping.

For those of you who's heads are now spinning I can easily explain this in a form that spoils very little.
