Now I been seeing the previews for this movie with Tom Cruise and the storyline doesn't look that half arsed. Look for the reviews at Yahoo or any other movie sites. Got an opion on this upcomming film?

I've seen the previews as well.  If it is done properly, my suspicions will be correct and there will once again be something good to watch.  I'm patiently waiting for this one.  It'll be pretty cool.

Cruise is taking no salary because he's taking a percentage or his production company is involved/in charge. You really think Tom Cruise would work on a movie for free?

When I first heard about the concept of the movie I got vex one time. Then I saw the trailer and I can't lie...I was very impressed. But as I began to read different plot points I realised that my initial fears were well-founded.

And while the movie does indeed look like it will have some awesome imagery and authentic bushido ethics and action, anyone who is sincerely interested in the whole Samurai culture should be wary of the underlying themes explained so well in this review.

Tom Cruise as a samurai? Steups.
Tom Cruise as "the last" samurai? Gimme a f*ckin break.

And yeah...I'll try to say this as spoiler-free as possible: He WAS the last samurai by the end of the film. I must be an ass in a basket to watch something like that without shaking my head and steupsing. A US civil war veteran becomes a superior samurai warrior over the space of a winter. It's like Dances with Wolves...only this time it's with Samurai.

That said, Ken Watanabe looks awesome, and he'll be the main reason I go to check it out.

The movie looks like it'll have superficial appeal...but yet, something about it just bugs me...and that review confirmed it....

Make a damn samurai movie without western corruption if you want to do it RIGHT!!!

But of course, ppl would flock to watch it cuz it looks all nice and stuff, and with ppl who would go to watch a movie because "*fill in your choice of actor/actress* looking hot", it encourages such superficiality...

Learn to go deeper than that....hence why I hardly go to the cinemas anymore, most of them I can simply wait for cable, and this one may go the same route....unless I got some extra money to spend....

but really, the japanese would never take a white person as a samurai cuz it must be inherited BY BIRTH so how did this happen?
