Definitely have to get another card to run this, must have that eye candy, though it may be better optimised. That was one really good video, true to reality ESP with the Shotgun , AKs are actually not prone to sticking!!

Great demo! They just gotta make sure our systems don't crash like that, lol. Wonder if this game will have difficulty settings hmmm...

Well this sucks...

...but I find Mr Hocking's estimate a bit generous.  Eight to ten hours?  Riiiiiiiight.

Hmmm...it seems a tech demo along with some of FC2's specs has been leaked...

Quote
An illegal tech-demo for Far Cry 2 has supposedly been released via a Chinese site and made available for download.

Before you get overly excited, please be well aware that I flat out refuse to post the link to it for you. Now, that we have that bit of motherly concern from me out of the way, I will instead post for you the supposed specs for the game.

I plan to play Far Cry 2 on my PC, and considering the “recommend” specs for the game are a bit expensive, I find that mine is fine the way it is with an Athlon 64 3200+ and a nVidia GeForce 7900 card  which runs anything I slip into my disc drive just perfectly. Therefore I refuse to upgrade just so one game can look the way it is suppose to. Also, if I need a new processor just to run the game, I guess the console version will have to suffice.

Far Cry 2 is said to need at least an Athlon 64 X2 4000+, a Core 2 Duo with 2.8 GHz is recommended. For the graphics acceleration you should have a Geforce 9800 or a Radeon HD 4870.

Take this for what it is until confirmation comes from Ubisoft.

Taken from Filefront.

Hmmm...not really surprised given the robust nature of the game engine, but those specs
are going to scare a lot of people away from the PC version if that is true, or we may see
another Crysis situation where the game will be heavily pirated by those who want to
'see if my system could run it' kinda thing.

Just to steep to be true.  How many Core 2 Duo CPU have a base frequency of 2.8 GHz?
A more pertinent question is how many users even have those CPUs in their systems?

I guess Ubisoft is surmising that those recommended specs will be cheap enough by the time the game ships.

Far Cry 2 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS...
« Reply #66 on: August 09, 2008, 12:17:00 PM »
OK, here are the REAL system requirements:

Recommended components for Far Cry 2 include an Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ processor,
an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS or AMD Radeon X1900 graphics card with 512MB of memory,
2GB of system RAM, a 5.1-channel sound card, and a DVD-ROM drive.

Not too bad.  Most people with 'gaming' PCs will be able to play it, but judging from what I've seen
so far, those recommended specs won't run it at 'EPIC WIN' levels.  We shall see.

Wow, wonder if they forgot to add the word 'minimum' between Recommended and Components? lol

Anyway those are very nice specs, a lot of people can breathe easy now.

One of the first CPU and GPU performance reviews of Far Cry 2.
The results are very promising for everybody. :)

One point to note here, is that they didn't test with the new 'hotfix' 8.10 driver that ATI has published,
which directly improves Far Cry 2 performance through DirectX 10.1, which this game fully supports.

360 version leaked earlier in the week though, definitely one of the better looking games on the system, gameplay I'm not so sure about, only got a 10mins inside the game.

Apparently you can use the map editor and make a map so you can actually run around shooting stuff etc to basically have some sorta experience of how the game runs. Well so said some peeps on the site that I use to "acquire" stuff from, so we just have to wait till a crack shows up...

YAY!!!
