no one says it aint fun
nevermind oui. some people in this world look at certain things...some people in this world made to write deep reviews...some people in this world just made to play the game.

oh god i forgot the damage!
nfsu have no damage! you drive into a vehicle at 200 mph , do 3 flips in the air, land back flat and drive off.
look beyond the shiny rims! you'll end up seeing a game that was rushed down

Rampage boy...yuh make mih proud in this thread. Yuh presented yuh points well.

That said, I doh really agree that the game is lame.

In fact, it's probably offered me more in terms of pure fun and playability than any other racing game I've played.

Still, the best racing/driving game to date? Heh...right.

No instant replay should be a crime...especially with 23-second drags as one of your main features.
No LAN support is inexcusable. Is like last year they bring out a NFS with good LAN support...what goin on?
And the only other problem I have is the repetitive tracks. Same surroundings, same night time, same weather...they coulda do better than that, even though what they present looks great.

I guess that's the whole thing about the game. It doesn't do much, but it's excellent at what it does. Great graphics, fun gameplay, decent music, good customization. Plenty fun...take it for what it is. I doh think as a total package that it's anywhere near the older NFS games or even games like Gran Turismo.

\"no lan play\"  while this IS a bad thing i dont think many NFS players missing it simply cause its a beast of a game which needs a beast of a system. the lan necessary to do this game justice is too expensive.

Dread...this point makes no sense. Where there's a LAN, there's a way. The mediocre LAN down at HQ can more than handle this game on low and medium settings, and the machines there have GF4MXs. If men want better graphics they'll bring their own machines...that's how it works in GATT. No LAN support out of the box is inexcusable.

NFS has aways been modder unfriendly. also if you look at many of the cars added as mods are some of the cars that make up this version. it just goes to show ppl wanted a game with more normal cars than the lauxury/fantasy cars.

Need for Speed: Underground would have been the perfect opportunity to break from this trend. How can you have a game that's so concerned with customization and not allow PC users to create their own visual mods at the very least? I wanted to write my name on my windshield, not some manufacturer I don't know about.
More rush-dong business.

again NFS underground is a game you play selfishly anyway.

Probably one that YOU play selfishly. More power to you, but as far as I know, competitive games are made to compete in, and AI can only entertain you for so long.
After putting all that effort into beating the courses and customizing my car, the least I could expect is a nice little area to show off and discuss the mods with other users. The online play is barebones. Underground is based on a thriving and active social environment...the online play could have easily reflected that.
Not to mention that without LAN play, you at least want technically competent online multiplayer play.
More rush dong business.

No one is saying that the game isn't good, great, or even excellent, but it has some gaping flaws in it...real dotishness that could have made it perfect. It doesn't make anysense denying them or pretending they aren't there.

I still want my instant replays. :-?

i do agree but NFSU gfx effects is integral to is gameplay you cant seperate the two. im not dampining the whole we are LANers feel but it wouldnt be the same on reduced pcs, hence the online option being more realistic.

you see thats where your wrong if you looked at many of the car mods over the years youd noticed that some (not all) are the stock cars that make up this game. i too look forward to all the odds an ends that could be added by the mod factory but as a fanatic in the car mod seen i do know most the brand names an accessories and while id miss the option of havin "BAD MF!" on my license plates a couple of alphine labels are just as great.

while i understand the whole peacock thing and the thirst for human blood NFSU is just what its is a upgraded console port. maybe im looking at it very simply in a sort of "want/satisfaction" way. i wanted momo rims i got it. i got fancy effects for my gf4ti to strain on. a good thx sound to flex on my audigy2 all that and a game i can seem to put down. now to me i see perfection. maybe im blind then agian i spend most of my time playing it.

ohh god you again
you giving the game excuses for it lameness man. you might have a ps2 controller or whatever hook up, but that doesn't mean that other users with other controllers are supported. look at prince of persia, all kinda videocard compatability problems, that doh mean that because baego have a 5900 or something and i have a 9600 mean the game has an excuse. you just not seeing beyond the underground mode...nice rims, etc etc, they fooling you! we looking at the actual game here! nfsu does have a good soundtrack but no mp3 support, doh bring in no excuse there. wont you like to ride your skyline down olympic stadium banging grindin on your logitech speakers? the fact that you said nfs has always been modder unfriendly means you not blind :) , thats good. i was just showing why its not the \"best\".  there are more problems ingame as well eh. i just list general problems. but for the dialup user who just want to beat the underground mode and doh business about mp3 support, more women starting the race, and a bunch of other stuff then nfsu is right for you i guess. me just shows the truth! doh beat me up! :(

maybe im really blind or maybe is a hapless sheep following the crowd. maybe my problem is that i do have a good GFX card and i do have a THX sound card and i DO have a ps2 contorller ( well 2 but thats another story) which means im not going to notice how bad the game really is cause im blinded by its awesome visuals and deafening by its sound quality? maybe im really enjoying playing a crappy game but if its crappy why is it that im enjoying it? isnt a game crappy when no enjoyment cant be gained from it? im confused.

im not jussling yuh but even if you dont like to hear NFSU is the BEST racer offered now. sure there are short comings in the lan and the instant replay ( yeah kayode i do agee with that ) department yet its still a package that manages to win over even the die hard GT purist. in the end the arguements you (and to some extent kayode) are making are those of elists who want more than the best. while nothing is wrong with it  making a broad statement that the game is crap is uncalled for and lacks hindsight for those who are simple everyday game players who arent obcessed with sweats and sampling their mp3 collection and take things at face value.

NFSU Is a decent game.

I running mine on a Geforce4 MX 440 and yeh i deprived of the crowds, headlights and blur. But small ting.

But honestly i think Midnight Club 2 is better. The more you work your way up, the better car you get. Unlike NFS which is painfully (to some) gonna prove that the "slowest" car is actually the best car in the whole game.

There is no car damage, no police. You can close your eyes and be set back on course if u "crash".

MC2 offers actually car damage, REAL shortcuts. You can drive anywhere in that game, explore all you want. Also there are more cars

NFSU visual mods like rims, spoiler, hood, body kits etc do NOTHING for the cars handling or performance. The laws of physics were clearlly ignored.

Body kits supposed to add the to aerodynamics of the car, bigger rims add better cornering and handling while the smaller supposed to give a better acceleration. CF hoods also supposed to make the car lighter.

MC2 and NFSU are the perfect example of two companies taking the same idea and while one did it well the other went badly astray.

MC2 is a VERY VERY poor attempt at a racing game. the GFX is bland, sound track lame and its use of Ebonics is so derogitory its insultive. while rockstar tried to get the competitive nature of the mod sceene and interactivity the inclusion of police just made it feel like a certain competitor's game.
