This thread is dedicated to this sweet country in Trinidad and Tobago and things (Positive and negative) that makes us unique...It cud be serious it cud be Kix, u decide....here goes

- only in Trinidad people does clap when they touch down in Piarco....lol
- only in Trinidad people does leave a truckload ah sand in the road and mix cement in de road.
- only in Trinidad we cud wine down low for a whole week

Hmm... I don't think everything you guys said happens ONLY in T&T... in particular voting on race and eating on leaf...
As an extension though:
Only Trini does clap when a plane touch down after a long plain trip PERIOD (think NYC)
Only in Trinidad we can have a murder rate of at least 1 per day, and the Min of Nat. Sec will claim crime on the decline
Only in Trinidad, the PM will say an Aluminium Smelter is a GOOD thing and if allyuh doh like it HYMC take 2 or 3 MORE!!!
Only in Trinidad the PM will say "I am not ARROGANT, I am CONFIDENT".... right.....
Only in Trinidad yuh could get a doubles @ whatoclock in the morning outside a nightclub, on mucorapo st, curepe, etc.
Only in Trinidad if water touch the highway is gridlock in both directions even if is only 1 lane with water
Only in Trinidad it does take 45 mins to go 3km, between the lighthouse and powergen.

there are genuine issues related to the smelters
especially as it pertins to alcoa
who have been run out of other countries for their sub par safety and environmental standards

and that is the real issue. the fact that for alcoa to come to trinidad, the government had to relax its environmental standards. THat is a major issue. They dont allow the oil companies that leeway but they did for alcoa and thats dangerous.

A smelter would be a good thing if we had a government who knew what to do with the money + EMA who wasn't so helpless that people still throwing fridge in river and making people deaf at carnival .

Just for comparison, the smelter it self isn't a bad idea, it's just where, how, lack of infrastructure for it ( try going to ALNG through LaBrea! ) reducing environmental standards to let Alcoa in, etc etc etc.

Lemme tell yuh now, the SAME LAME @$$ man was in power when ISPAT was put in place and that same LAME @$$ man is in power now. First hand accounts of how ISPAT now methal steel is run I KNOW that they have no EMA or HSE woking dere with ANY effect. Yuh think Alcoa gonna be ANY different? ISPAT have a firetruck park up in they compound and the damn thing DOH WORK. They does wash it to make it look clean and to pass whaev lil inspection.
