FAVORITE MOVIES OF 2006
« on: December 22, 2006, 11:00:06 AM »
Well another year goes by for filmwatchers.....this was an unorthodox and dark year for films.....most of the movies I viewed were gritty, intense and unpredictable....others were mediocre, lame and for lack of a better term s***......

Anyways....use this post and put up what you feel is your favorite movies of 2006 so far.....there are no limits to this and feel free to change your taste....just remember though I said films of 2006.

Here's my list from least best to best!

10. Jackass No 2 (not as funny as it's predecessor but hilarious nontheless)

9. World Trade Centre (great drama and a notable performance by Nicolas Cage)

8.Eragon (remarkable visual effects and amazing story....more fun than LOTR in my watch!)

7. Silent Hill (arguably the best video game movie out right now)

6.Monster House (state of the art animation and a clever story)

5. Superman Returns (Supurb superhero movie from the director of X-Men and X2:X-Men United....too bad he didn't direct X-Men: The Last Stand )

4. Flyboys (another visual effect intensive film, great battle sequences and monstrous sound editing)

3.Mission: Impossible-3 (possible the film with with most intense, frentic violent sequences this year)

2.The Departed (Great direction, acting, boston accents and ending)

1. Miami Vice (Quite possibly the best editing, cinematography and story this year. Get the unrated director's cut for maximum effect.)

Well those are mine.....so post your...have fun -_-

does Borat count as a movie? cause that was the SHIZZZ
also the Decent.  apparently it was out in europe like 8 months before it was released here.  but still good flick to see in the cinema.  most movies like that are.

x3 wasn't THAT BAD dread, not as bad as hulk , but it raped the xmen storyline.

Didn't bother to see the movie, but the eragon book was a wholesale copy of lots of different storylines. Eragon-->Aragorn , Arya was the girl name? Who aragorn woman was? Arwen? Alot of the plot was  star wars , farmboy becomes some kind of superhero, in book 2 he finds out his father was one of the evil dudes.

Didn't get to see alot of stuff this year between CXC and owning a conroe system (games>movies) , but one of my faves is surely De jaVu ,  good Sci fi + Denzel Washingon = Bess movie.

i dunno nah  but this was a bad year to me for movies. next year holds much much promise.

but some of the good movies to me were,

1. the prestige

2. superman returns

3. pirates of the caribbean 2

4. casino royale

havent seen departed, illusionist, borat or rocky yet, but i may add more to this list.

and miami vice was utter crap imo. felt like I was watchin soft porn, no bloddy cohesive story, shoddy action, one of michael mann's worst offereings.

only good part of miami vice for me was the 50 cal sniper rifles and de pot hole size bullet wounds they left.

THe illusionist and the prestige rocked.
Superman Returns Rocked.
Borat
Pirates of the Carribean 2
Clerks 2 and the departed.

The departed was for sure damnn

In no particular order:

1. Superman Returns - Bryan Singer, nuff said.
2. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - Captain Jack Sparrow, nuff said.
3. Mission Impossible III - One of the best opening sequences I have ever seen.
4. Borat - One of the genuinely funniest movies I have seen in a long time.
5. Eragon - Best use of a dragon since Dragonheart (plus it is a female dragon with the voice of Rachel Weisz).
6. Cars - Pixar keeps the streak going.
7. Casino Royale - Excellent origin story with a kick-@$$ new Bond.
8. Failure To Launch - As romantic comedies go, this was quite good and had some really funny moments (involving various animals).
9. Inside Man - Very cool, intense movie. Denzel Washington is a boss as usual.
10. Monster House - So very much like The Goonies (from Speilberg, of course).
11. V for Vendetta - Boss movie with my girl Natalie Portman.
12. Deja Vu - Another excellent Denzel Washington movie from Tony Scott/Jerry Bruckheimer.
13. The Prestige - Very interesting movie with plot twists galore.
14. Glory Road - If you like basketball, you will really enjoy this one.
15. The Illusionist - Edward Norton in a very magical role.
16. Crank - Jason Statham in a ride that you rarely go on at the movies.
17. Jet Li's Fearless - Some of the best fight scenes to be put on film with a story to match.
18. Lucky Number Slevin - For Lucy Liu (cutest thing you will see for a while) and a boss story.
19. Tristan And Isolde - Reminded me of First Knight (that is a good thing).
20. Click - Funny and touching movie with the always hot Kate Beckinsale. What more can you ask for?

well i personally sick of most of Hollywood’s crap they call movies but: there where two this year that where pretty great:

1. The pursuit of happiness: A sad story about a father ( Will Smith's best performance by far i think) trying to find a place of happiness, which the writers realistically equated to the money required just to survive.
2. X-3 - i know most people feel a betrayal of X men's original story and characters in this movie, but i still feel that as a stand alone piece of work, compared to nothing, the direction and story was pretty good
