Wii fills record books down underMagic momentsBy Nick Farrell: Friday, 23 November 2007, 8:41 AMNINTENDO'S bizarrely named Wii console is heading into the record books as one of the most successful games machines in history.According to bean counters at GfK, Nintendo has managed to flog more than 200,000 Wii's in Australia in the last 50 weeks. The only machines to reach that target in the past has been the PS2 and the Nintendo DS and they both took 55 weeks to hit the magic 200,000 units.GfK pundit, Andrew Milgate said if Nintendo kept peddling the Wii with those sorts of figures, it would become the fastest-selling console of all time. However it is not bad considering that there are very few games available for the Wii and most punters that do buy one of the beasts only own two.
