I love this twist because it is the very last thing i expected to happen.

I hate predictable stories, and this was not predictable.

So for all else, its time to see naruto up on that toad mountain learning some real jutsu after hearing of eroo-sennin death.

I can't even bring myself to argue as to why this is so terrible. Ario begins to touch upon my opinion but hey...you know what...if you guys like it then fantastic. I, however, don't think I can enjoy this manga like I used to. Not particularly because the story is going in this direction, which I am not opposed to, but rather, the poor manner in which it has been implemented since. It's just poor writing and Kishimoto can do much better than this.

What I find so terribly absurd, is that Sasuke in now in league with a man who directly responsible for his clan's massacre; a man who assisted genocide simply due to his contempt for a clan which, in his opinion, spurned him...as opposed than taking his brother's (the same brother which he so claimed to love, which he just had revealed to him loved him so desperately that he did all he absolutely could to protect him) noble example and putting country and peace beyond self. Never mind the directive was disseminated from the rogue (but somewhat rational) orders of a fringe entity within Konoha (Danzo/Root) rather than than of the rank and file leadership.

The only way the justify this at all...is if he eventually reveals that Sasuke has been so emotionally traumatized and stunted by all his fighting and all his corrupted perceptions and deceit he has experienced that he is in severe denial or perhaps, he suffers from some sort of severe savant autism. But this is Shonen. So that's unlikely. It's just poor writing.

I'm not too sure about what were 're saying. Sasuke has always thinks like this.

When he thougth itachi destroy there clan, and murdered there parents, he went on a one man mission to destroy itachi, which is what itachi wanted.
Now that he feels detrayed by konoha, he's doing what he always does- try and take revenge.
He's not really doing this for madara at all,but sasuke is being used, and probably doesn't care ( just like with orch.... however u spell his name- sannin snake man)

So to clarify a point that's been bugging me, and do correct me if I'm wrong here- the Mangekyou Sasuke has acquired is a result of killing the person closest to him- Itachi. THAT, if correct, is IMO a likable "twist".

That is what we're led to believe at present, however it doesn't account for Kakashi. My take on it is that there is something (probably mentally and phsyically) that triggers the development of the normal sharingan into the Mangekyou. And under the conditions of killing ones closest relation those conditions are met. HOWEVER that is not to say there isn't an alternative triggering mechanism. If I had to draw a reference, it's like sex and chocolate. Chemically they produce the same result (or so its said, i'll just say I don't have much of a sweet tooth XD). I believe that Kakashi unlocked the alternative method to activating the MS. However there is the next problem of deterioration. And I think it's a suitable caveat. When you exert that much power through the eyes, its bound to start to deteriorate. It's like a overload of chakra. The Eternal MS that Madara (and possibly Sasuke) have attained also is somewhat logical. The strain on the eyes by usage of the MS would over time deteriorate the original. Thus by replacing the original with a 'spare part' or perhaps a strengthening with the combination of the orignal users blood and powers with that of the 'donor' a resilience to the power is developed. This is all speculation mind you, but my take on the whole situation.

@ the sharingan i believe w1n is right... except that sasuke also activated it in the special way... itachi was not the closest thing to him... so i dont think actually killing itachi released it

 Likely when Kakashi becomes hokage , he will have to defend Konoha against Sasuke , and we'll get an explanation during that confrontation
 
I think Itachi somehow transferred his MS to sasuke , in addition to the normal 'kill your brother and you'll get MS ' deal.
 
 We did see his eyes become like Itachi's when he used amaterasu earlier on.

 Itachi  was  Sasuke's closest living relative , and  if we ignore the events leading up to killing the uchiha clan and fleeing Konoha (which Kishimoto is basically telling us to), his closest friend .

Personally... i think there was a major shake up in the writing or something, what happen to the Kisame fight?  the quality has dropped so much there has to be some sort of explanation , after all these years an artist/writer is supposed to be getting better , not worse

I think its more like itachi gave him his sharingan ablities before he died, than sasuke killing him. Those eyes might be the final sharingan eyes technique, that madara have, but madara got that by taking his brothers eyes himself. Since itachi still had both his eyes......u really can't be sure wht sasuke sharingan is now.

The thing is he shifted the blame to the entire village.. Which either makes Sasuke plain stupid or kishimoto hiigh on something.

I whole heartedly agree. I can't seem to like this manga as much anymore.. I just can't. I can't help but think that something is actually going on with Kishimoto to have taken such a sudden plunge into mediocrity lately.

his world has just been turned upside down with words from madara concerning the real nature of itachi's intentions so he's prolly messed up in his head that he's striking out at the village, even tho its just a sect that was responsible (peter pay for paul oui) but thats my humble opinion

what really has me tripping is that kisame fight, wham to that fight? a beast like kisame wouldnt go out easy and he wouldnt run from them kids, unless suigetsu turned water and absorbed him

Yall have seen the latest manga right? Itachi game Naruto some of his power... hmm I wonder which one or what it could be... my suspicions as far as if itīs a MS technique would be Sunsanoo the most powerful technique, as Tsukyomi isnīt going to work against Sasuke anymore and we KNOW he can perform amaterasu. Susanoo would be the logical choice as it has the power to defend against all physical attacks AND defeat sasuke if it ABSOLUTELY came down to it... it seems Itachi has entrusted his will to protect Konoha AND his little brother to Naruto... HOPEFULLY we can FINALLY SEE some REAL development to the DAMN MAIN CHARACTER!!! sheesh...

If Naruto receives any sharingan technique or a sharingan (which is not possible mind you as it is a bloodline limit and itachi still had his eyes after the conversation so it couldn't have been a transplant ) they should rename the Manga to Sharingan.

this may sound stuip but...... since the only person known to us to have been able to control the nine-tails was an uchica- madara, maybe itachi knows  how too as well, and incase somehow the kyubi was to be freed, then naruto would have to try and control it- hence the " i hope you never have to use it" line.

If the Kyuubi got free, i'm pretty sure Naruto would either be DEAD from it's retrieval OR totally consumed by it and lose himself altogether... as for a sharingan technique being passed, I am not in agreement. It's possible that a technique could be passed as something of the order of Susanoo, Amateratsu, etc aren't just normal techniques. They aren't the combination of elemental control. Heck Susanoo looks like a bloody summon and we know thay summons can have multiple methods to activate. But in line with what wf was saying, perhaps seeing as control of the Kyubi is a Sharingan ability, perhaps Itachi gave Naruto the ability to control the kyubi. It would make alot more sense seeing as he possesses it and what he lacks is control!
