I think a large part of the process is the cold blooded hatred it takes to kill your own brother...
   Just as it takes killing your best friend to unlock the mangekyou in the first place..

 It involves choosing a path of hatred and power over a normal , cushy , happy go lucky existence ..
 
 I don't think swapping eyes will just do the trick .. There was probably a curse put on the Uchiha clan that forces them to this fate .


to get MS in the first place you need to kill your friend ,  i wouldn't trust anyone with that much lust for power with my eyeballs in the first place.. another obstacle to just a plain trade.

I can't say I disagree with the fight ending this way. I'm glad that a limit was finally put on Sasuke. The less experienced genius can't beat the more experienced one.
First good move I've seen by Kishi in a while. That said though, we've got no known limits on Itachi's new powers so we're gonna have to endure another round of universe crossover versus topics that have Itachi beating Goku and other such nonsense.

Now then how about some...KISAME!!
Oh and I support Orochimaru coming back as a badass in any way or form. I doh care if d man take over a manicou and start bitin man ankle, once he bitin dem ankle like a serious shotter I happy.

Well so much for Oro... man last snake get bun up... and yeah that fire seems to be spreading fast... which means its only a matter of time before it reaches team kakashi and co. That aside, a while back I had posted a theory about Itachi... along the lines of 'what if' isn't as bad as we all thought he was and all this time he was protecting his brother.... perhaps Itachi knew he wasn't able to surpass Madara and to save sasuke he went through all this to push sasuke to an even greater level than he is in the hope of Sasuke one day defeating Madara... a feat he was unable to do... Now to extend this theory, suppose as plant boy was saying... it's strange Itachi seemed not himself (though yes he was going blind and all) but what if, there was a constant fight between Madara and Itachi.... I mean think about it.. Itachi has no particular reason for using the MS very often... there aren't many opponents that would require that kind of power... what if Madara was also after Itachi's eyes? if by taking his brother's eyes it gave birth to a new jutsu plus the combination of his one MS.... then a third iteration would possibly be even more powerful and give birth to yet another ultimate jutsu... what if Itachi was constantly battling Madara maybe even within the genjutsu world or mind's world and as a result it took it's toll on his body over time... it's all just speculation of course but feasible imho... if it comes to pass then just remember where you heard it first

it seems to have ended with a 'brotherly love' scene, wintry's theory might be true . Itachi realised that he could never beat madara , so he forced sasuke to hate him so much that sasuke could do the job.

 As long as Madara lived , the lives of all uchiha were at risk, so perhaps the whole thing was to finally redeem the legacy of the uchiha? 
   
  A new uchiha clan with Sasuke as founder would be far stronger .

Things real heating up now. Madara take off his mask sayin that Itachi is not what he seemed to be .(If they come and say that he was good all along ill be PISSED)

 actually it would be the most likely thing , it would transfer all of sasuke's former anger onto killing Madara because

 ' you made me kill my last remaining family member , and you killed my family!'.

 The shocking thing would be to find out what madara's plan was all along, is it revenge? Does he require Sasuke's body to survive?

episode 54 isn't bad , i guess we'll just have to get used to the slow no @ss pace.


BTW , going through the manga i notice Episode 54 covers 2 manga chapters , and 55 should also cover two , not back to the original pace but faster than before i think.

It's pretty certain that Itachi was simply following orders all along, even if that meant he let Sasuke think he killed the clan.

I've pretty much given up on Shippuden, I watch every so often to catch up but I don't anticipate it with any sort of fervor. Frankly Bleach is beating the hell out of Naruto right now, both anime and manga.

If Itachi was good all along that would completely spoil the flow of the plot. And personally I think Kishimoto is better than that, making something so obvious happen.

That aside though, I was searching for a previous post of mine to say HA!!! As I said then i say now!!! but unfortunately I can't find the Naruto Theory thread where it was posted... and a search for it in existing threads is turning up naught... anyways some may remember but I had put forward a theory that Itachi WAS INDEED good, and that he was doing it to protect his brother sasuke... by the spoilers for this week that i've seen... it seems as though I was right.... O_O

here's a spoiler and its supposed translation:

If this is right, I hope they realllly do it well. How would they explain Itachi's behaviour throughout the fight? After all the stuff that Itachi revealed  - his 'true form' at the beginning, the maniacal laughter and demonic image that Sasuke saw, I hope they don't chalk it up to just acting, or genjutsu. It's not that this was never a theory; in fact, I remember reading an old one a good while ago about how Itachi may have been blackmailed into Akatsuki from the beginning, or that it was a deep-ass ANBU mission.

I see nothing wrong with Itachi being good. And even Jaraiya's informant... in fact it makes sense.... sharkman asked itachi why he didn't (basically take on Jaraiya) and Itachi was forced to use Amateratsu... however if you think about it... he could very well have used it directly on Jaraiya for a one shot K.O. but as his informant he chose to run and even use a powerful jutsu just to make it seem like it was indeed a bit of a fight against an adversary... also I think it makes sense all of Itachi's behaviour that is. He did it to PUSH sasuke to surpass even him (itachi) as it's somewhat clear that Itachi could not surpass Madara and his hope was that Sasuke would be able to... I don't see why everyone is complaining about this... and as for the Amataretsu in sasuke eye... well that's something else.. but interesting still imho

Wow.. now i've seen two of my speculations come to fruitition... not only was itachi good... but it seems that his unusual form against sasuke (spitting up blood, slow reaction) was from madara... what is madara's real deal... also... Itachi could have been Jaraiya's spy... wow... some may be disappointed but honestly I am impressed by the turn of events...

That's my reaction to this pathetically obvious plot revelation. Why de eff we can't jus have men bein evil for bein evil sake anymore? I is de only youth who grow up watchin 80s cartoons? Bring back the evil for evil sake, every other mofo these days have some kinda sad story to redeem him.
