Mp3 compression program

Um ...... I need a program that can compress mp3s very small to put on my phone....I hav a few but everytime i try to play one of the compressed files on my fone it says "FILE IS CORUPTED.do u want to delete"

The only reason i want this is bcuz i hav a v555 with very little memory(7601kbs)

That link is broken, Diciple. Isnt that program an open source one? I could have sworn i came across that while using Linux sometime in the past.

it didnt really help cuz it asks for some thing called LAME ...some stuff like that

yeh.  i put the link for lame as well in the edited post.

 lame is the actual mp3 encoder that doin the work; u just have to download it, and have audacity point to it.


Windows

   1. Go to the LAME download page.
   2. Click on any link from the list of identical "lame-3.96.1" links.
   3. When you have finished downloading LAME, unzip it and save the file lame_enc.dll anywhere on your computer.
   4. The first time you use the "Export as MP3" command, Audacity will ask you where lame_enc.dll is saved.

you could just use cdex and set the quality to the lowest a 3-4 min song will be about 500k

I have a program call Xillsoft I coverts avi, mp3, mp4s, mpeg....the works....I'll pm the link for ya when I get it. highly recommended program!

If your phone can play AAC, then i suggest you convert the songs to 96kbps AAC as it is just as clear as 128kbps mp3 and is very small. iTunes does this well. For the mp3, the best suggestion to make it smaller is to use mp3pro or make the bit rate at least 128kbps. Goldwave is a nice program that does anything music.

i got a program named mp3 to ringtone which is a trial....its really wierd tho cuz it says that im allowed to only compress 5 mp3s but so far ive converted bout 30-sumthing an counting
