Its irresponsible to start something like this with out setting the parameters and criterion of what would make either one of them "badder" than the other.

Is what makes the person badder who is more powerful between the two? Then of course superman wins.

Is it who is the greater hero? THen Super Man wins again.

Is it who has more mass appeal? Super Man again

Is it something more specific like who is gothams greatest hero? Then batman
Is it who is metroplis's greatest hero, then its superman.


So what do you mean by badda?

Is it ultimately who would win in a fight? THen ONCE AGAIN SUPERMAN WINS!!!!

this discussion has been brought up about 4 times since ive been in gatt. And many points and counter points were put up. a big war was waged and ultimately yu have to define what you are using to judge "badness" otherwise there is no answer.

I always liked Batman better because he was just a guy without powers doing what he could to fight crime. That being said, of course Superman would kick hiss @$$ in a straight-up fight. Then again, Batman is king at evading a straight-up fight. This debate could go on forever.

batman could strategize, master of concealment, hiding in the shadow, all that good stuff, unlike superman most mostly, realize what going on and just his brute strength and unstoppiblity to win.

Batman has contingency plans to kill/incapacitate everyone in the Justice League. In in certain DC continuities he has actually beaten him. Hell...as the running joke goes....Batman can beat everyone and anyone...given that he has time to plan.


I mean...let's be honest. For a man without super powers...batman is exceedingly powerful. Does Superman surpass him physically? Certainly. But for a mere human...Batman is pretty badass. That's why I prefer him.

I agree. Given enough time and planning, Batman could beat just about anybody.

To be honest, though, I'm growing to really, really hate Superman as a character.
He has more superpowers than God, can easily juggle between life as Clark Kent and Superman, invalidates the whole Justice League simply by having a similar power to whatever one person has, and has come back from death. He's too powerful and seriously too unrealistic as a character nowadays. I mean, GAWD.

That's why I prefer Batman. He's ultra-resourceful, virtually unmovable in terms of emotion, and, above all else, he's freaking smart. I respect characters like that, because they do with whatever they have at their disposal, and still make it out in their end. Now that's badass.


However, Superman does have his valid points over Batman.
In hand-to-hand combat, Batman would lose. HARD. He'd have to have some external resouce to beat out Superman. And that's counting super-strength alone. And, needless to say, Superman is like a Swiss Army knife. Any power that can come in handy in whatever crisis, poof, he has it. Unfortunately, there are times when he conveniently forgets those, too, but I'm sure it'll pop up when he really needs it.

But, I need to say it again. That last reason is why I'll never choose Superman over Batman. Being that type of hero is way too convenient, because the writers can make up any bulls**t scenario to make Superman save the day, and just add to his list of Superpowers. Check his Wikipedia entry and all.....under 'Notable Powers', they just add a link called 'Superman's Powers and Abilities'. It's God damned ridiculous. Batman has nothing to rely on but gadgets of his own design and his humanity. And if he can win the day against enemies with powers like Poison Ivy and Bane, then he wins. Full stop.

NEO the whole idea of any of comic book characters being able to do anything is ridiculous. Then trying to justify those powers by implimenting theoretical lifestyles of characters that would need to deal with this and then selling them on a monthly basis to avid fans, myself included. Its not real...but it is what it is. He is Superman, one of the first superheros from which all superhero's were born. I do understand your point though and it is valid. Its a matter of prefference. People can relate to Batman more since he is more of a hero rather than a superhero, he has no superpowers, but pwns supervillains all the time. However:

Batman himself called superman the greatest hero of all time, or the world has ever known....or something like that (Kingdom Come)

 Batman obviously wins opinion polls , Kingdom come's rendition of superman and all those heroes was superb , but we rarely see superman as a MAN with emotions and problems, more often as a godlike bieng who always wins.
   Its like a Sasuke vs Naruto poll , or rather a Sasuke vs Rock lee , one is immensly powerful naturally  , the other gets by on hard work and is only slightly talented . We prefer the underdog , the one who has to work hard like we do, we identify with him cause we understand what its like...

Most definitely Superman !

I like Batman and all but out of all the superheroes and both Marvel and DC he is the most unrealistic. At lest the others have super powers to explain the stuff they do.
