Lasik safer than contact lenses
« on: October 13, 2006, 10:36:42 AM »
As someone who had Lasik and never used contact lenses, I think I would have to agree with it.

I was 24 when I got it. It was absolutely painless and took all of 2 minutes. The hardest thing was no focusing of your eyes for a week after (to rest and heal) and putting eye drops 3 times a day. Immediately after the surgery, though, I could see better ... this is within minutes after.

havent read the article as yet but i myself just earlier this week was looking into toric contacts cause i have an astigmatism and toric and other lenses using new silicon polymers are said to be great cost effective lasik alternatives.

They reshape your eyes while you wear them, so even when yur not wearing them you get some of the benefits of having contacts AND the new silicon polymers increase oxygen to the eyes dramatically, so they are significantly safer for daily wear than they used to be.

PLus yu can get them coloured and also with special effects ^_^ sharingan torics anyone???

i think so ^_^ anddd they also have the uv blocking contacts

anddddd they have the light filterin contacts that increase the brightness of certain colours, so like if yur a tennis player, yu can get the contacts to filter the blue light out (which is harmful in any case) and it dramatically increases the brightness of yellow and white, so you can see the ball easier ^_^

just read your post on your lasik results

and as a man that has been wearin glasses since i was 9, thats like amazing that its so easy!! the prospect of renewed vision is almost enuff to make me shed a tear

but as yu said, that no focusing for a week is gonna be hella hard!

did you have it done locally? and could you give us an idea of the price?

Na, not locally. I was living in Florida at the time (going back next week hopefully). I went to this place called Pannu Laser Institute. The guy who does the surgery (Dr. Pannu) had a reputation of having never had any complications with a laser surgery procedure at the time. The cost was a bit steep, though. I was lucky that my aunt wanted to pay for it for me. It cost $2,000 US per eye. Now, that was 5/6 years ago so I am sure it would be less by now. This is the website if you want to check it out.
