The Budget : What happened ???

Gov't service have to improve so much in general (ESPECIALLY Works and Transport) before they could implement a viable rail system, its better if a private company do it yes.  I mean, how hard is it to run a bus system? (Yes YOU PTSC!!!)

I'll have to do some research on rail systems across the world to find out what worked (in terms of public/private enities) and what didn't.

I'm sure gov't could do a 'bang-up' job once they get proper consultation and PLANNING in place, and not just throw money at more pardners again.

As for everything else i sure, as it was with the previous budgets, we eh seeing 75% of it AND we go overspend.

i sure a single monorail from san fernando to port-of-spain could lighten up real traffic. and could easily be expanded cross country in the course of a few years, i mean how much could it cost? more than what they wasting for boats that shutdown and blimps that don't fly?

Absolutely no economic or scientific reasoning was given for this impending ban. 'The government making moral decisions ' is a very bad thing.  WHOSE morals!!?  What if my morals different from yours?  When a type of decision such as this is made, clearly, you Mr Manning, are trying to impose your morals on me, just because you're in govt, and so, holding all the cards.

I go stand by the foreign used dealers on that one... I desperately trying to scrape up enough to apply for a f.used car loan... Cars was just about the ONLY thing that concern me with this budget...

I HATE travelling in taxis and maxis. The last time I travel in a BUS was for Machel concert where the VIP stand fall down. I want my own car dammit.... If they want to strangle the foregin used industry, no problem, once they subsidize me gettin a new car. Yes the traffice is killer... I had a rental this week.. and i had to leave home in Diego by 6.30am to guarantee reaching town by 7am. leaving just 10 minutes later will make you reach town approaching 8am

I mean I not much of a car person, but I go learn, but I want my 1st car to be fresh from Japan/Singapore. I doh trust the clasified ads for fear of gettin rip off, and Manning talk of reducing the age of imported is detrimental to my efforts.

as for alcohol... so we might pay $8 - $10 for a Stag in an ordinary bar and $15 - $20 in Zen... it ent go stop me... but i WILL drink less of it... (I wonder how much my fete match football club go ask for weekly drinks contribution now?)

I am for the reduction of foreign and I don't see the need to subsidize us for new ones. You complaining about leaving at 6:30 to reach for 7. PLEASE, I leave at minutes to 6 to get to work for 8. Yeah I from past the light house and quite frankly the foreign used market has been a majoy contributing factor in the # of cars on the road and TRAFFIC. That and other things like @$$hole drivers, old cars that shouldn't be on the road still AND a poor public transport system leading everyone to want a car for themselves. I HATE the fact that it takes me say 15 minutes from UWI to the market by Sealots, but it takes 30-45 minutes to get from their to FRICKING T&TEC. There are TOO many cars on the roads and all this government does is widen roads and IN SO DOING CAUSE TRAFFIC. Dread I see at least 2-3 hrs of traffic EVERYDAY WEEK DAY. But dread NOW I see that up to 4 hrs on a BAD day and as much as 4 hours IN ONE FREAKING DIRECTION ONTHE HIGHWAY on weekend. Iman leave CHagaramus 2 weeks ago at 3 and reach home 6PM!!! WDMC!!! ON A SATURDAY!!!

manning doing something we see in other countries that is a bad combination, he is a born-again christian and is trying to combine his rule and his religion. BAD, BAD, combination.

The one thing this country doh need is more stress, we have stress over race already and plenty at that,we really looking to add religion into the mix, just watch CNN you'll understand what i saying.

That is why i like MMOs it have nothing like race (well aside from Tuaren/Orcs/Humans and such but i talking real world here) and religion, everybody does either get along or not based on their actions not their race,religon or belief.

Breaking the law comes with consequences, a fact with which i'm quite familiar. If the consequence of cutting out town to morvant traffic once in a while is paying $200 to save some (read a lot) precious time, so be it.

Although the penalty for driving on the proprity (at present) is a regular $200 ticket, I must admit, y'all making a good point. Breaking the law in any way, shape or form is unexcusable. Thanks, guys. No more priority trips for me unless its in a maxi.

All I'm saying is this...if the representative bodies fail to provide and fail to adequately meet the needs of the people they represent people are bound to seek an alternative. I'm very much aware of the idea that "change starts with me" but there, in admittedly very limited view of the world, has been no major change that has begun without government intervention, the coercion legislation and strict enforcement or punishment.

braking the law is inexusiable right, i agree, but sometimes we have some seriously unjust laws, eg. (laymans terms, i no lawyer) once u live a mininum of 1/2 mile from a water stand pipe, all people in that radius must by law be billed from wasa for use of that water, withstanding if u have a wasa connection in your property/squating or not.
