http://www.tomshardware.com/news/ps3-playstation-rsx-gpu-40nm,10265.html

40nm RSX Allows for Lightest, Most Efficient PS3

As part of the usual improvements throughout the console life cycle, Sony has updated the design of its PS3 Slim.

The major change this time wasn't a new feature or a new form factor, but rather a die shrink for its Nvidia-designed RSX GPU. The chip has shrunk from 65nm to 40nm, resulting in a reduction in both weight, heat, and power consumption.

A teardown narrated by Japanese site PocketNews examines the power requirements and updated (and simplified) designs for the cooling system. Compared to the original launch console, the new 40nm RSX-packing model CECH-2100A has a heatsink and fan that weighs nearly half of that from the first PlayStation 3 design.

Perhaps equally remarkable is that the new model's cooler weighs significantly less than even the PS3 Slim model unveiled last fall. The latest simpler cooling hardware weighs 408g, while the PS3 Slim's one that launched last year weighs 545g.

Expectedly, the die shrink has reduced power consumption by around 15 percent – an improvement in all powered-states. When powered off, the console still draws 9W.

That doesn't sound too good at all..

Have you tried these option from the recovery menu?

Obviously this is last resort :

the ps3 is now coming on sometimes. It give the red screen error, i restart the system a couple of times, and it eventually loads properly........ so the problem is what to do from here.....i could enter system recovery mode and try these options, but with the system not working properly now, there is always a chance i could make thing worst.

Did a quick google and saw this thread

http://www.psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?s=1f863ba522e3a33a87a4b6db44cb9adc&t=62401&page=3

"there is nothing that the PS3 recovery or format utility can do to fix the rosd once it appears (nor a new hdd installation). there is a current theory that the rsod is caused by data corruption within the nand chip (read the entire thread). there is nothing else that you can do to fix it yourself.

your first option is to call sony and nicely demand for a free fix (make sure that you have an original receipt of purchase and that you have registered the console under your name). "

As for what new PS3 games I getting, well I waiting to see what multiplayer games ppl on meh list getting. There is only so much BC2 and MW2 ah could handle lol.

BAWWWW!!!! LBP2 this year? bessness

Quote
Sony and Media Molecule will be expanding the concept of 'Play, Create, and Share' a whole lot this year when they release LittleBigPlanet 2 for the PS3. Confirmed in the latest issue of GameInformer, Media Molecule talked with GameInformer about their upcoming sequel and delved into a lot of new information regarding the title, which includes a lot more player customization and higher emphasis on player's creating their own content.
This time around, you'll be able to create your own RPGs, FPS, platformers, racers, and any type of game genre you can think of. Instead of simple making minor enhancements here and there, Media Molecule has crafted a totally new experience and has certainly made the next installment worthy of being labeled a true sequel. In the GameInformer issue, they use SNES-era games as examples of 2D titles you'll be to create and you'll be able to customize the game HUD and nearly every feature of the title. What you create is totally up to and the game has removed many of the limitations of the first LBP. There shall be advancements to the AI, physics, and many other game elements to create a far richer experience over an already grossly satisfying one.

They also confirmed that the game would release in 2010. Whether it'll act as a possible flaghship title for PlayStation Move can't be determined, but it's certainly a possibility. With E3 around the corner, expect to hear and see much more on LittleBigPlanet 2 in mid-June.

ModNation Racer Demo is out, and this is the random toon and car i made with the tools in the demo in like 10mins  xD

Click the Picture for Enlarge View

Toon:      Front                                Front                              Back

Car:        Front                                Back                               Engine

My toon is rocking the sickle and hammer on the back of his jacket, and got a nail stuck in his head
As for the car i cut springs to drop ride, replaced the steering wheel, got a racing seat installed, slapped in a turbo engine then put on big rims and ofcourse death spikes for pwning others online.... Mario eat your heart out  >:]

I hope trinis actually play this game alot instead of just moving on to some annual CoD release. KZ2 was my first true and proper FPS experience (also the first FPS to never get me dizzy). Would the jetpacks be in multiplayer?

Seiryuki...buddy...u know that not gonna happen

most men sweat d u2 demo more than d actual game and that was when u2 was good

do like what i did find urself some foreigners to run with an yuh good to go

my clan PHI has over 120 members for MAG from all over the world and will be on other games as well like socom4 , brink, kz3 etc

when d time comes i can always invite yuh to d clan
dunno if u gettin socom 4 or brink tho but i know u gettin kz3 for sure

KZ 3? Boy you know the sad thing about me? I wait for a good game to get cheaper (either used or a "Greatest Hit"... hey, we don't all work... furthermore not at Fort Knox anyway) But by the time I say "right lemmeh choose between this and that and so and so" a sequel commin' out. *Steups* Anyhow....

I'm happy for you, 'cause I was considering fixing mine myself and then I ended up wringing my hands when I read of PS3's only lasting a couple of months after the fix. So I made up my mind to send it away now... experiment next time if there is a next time. Already made some calculations and it comes to about TT$800 (shipping, repair, return).

Another thing LBP2? I know these developers have to make money too... but I figured the most you'd have is paid updates and patches and so on for LBP. But I guess they have their reasons.

Could be... from the pics everything seems more 'compact' and functional if I could say so but I thought you could accomplish that kinda thing with LBP.

BTW Vice... How's MAG? Is it still "in" or will it be "out" by the time I get there? lol.

i does be on MAG everyday with my clan lol
right now alot of more competitive players want better clan support including me
we want clan wars because i will be honest we wreck randoms at incredible pace

zipper said they adding more clan support so we hopin its some clan wars because the best games ive played so far was against rival PMC clans and that one dom game where my 2 squads of PHI had to bail out the 3 other platoons in DOM or else we would have lost lol

in sabo we does end games within 3 mins when attacking Valor
in Aquisition currently i have a 100% record when i get Platoon Leader on defense on 2nd platoon. I lead that platoon with precision lol

best score on ACQ was 75-8.....yes 75 kills 8 deaths lol
sabo was 41-0
DOM was 73-14
(i take pics of my games :) )
as far as factions go

SVER has been dubbed easy mode because quite frankly zipper had a hard on for them and their ACQ and DOM maps are ridiculously easy to defend so we really dont consider any sver players to have much skill lol

Valor has been dubbed the heavy armor lmg spray an pray pmc

Raven has been dubbed hard mode since our DOM map is really retarded (gotta thank zipper for that) an also the PMC with probably slightly more retarded randoms than the rest lol

as for jumpin in now nope it not too late
can always roll with us
u might not get any kills in sabo with the talent we have but u will get wins LOL!!!
