Reading some of the comments there...it seems that a lot of players are really bitter at how
SOCOM: Confrontation has progressed...from release to now.  I thought a lot of the release issues
were resolved with all of the updates that were released, but it seems that a lot of diehard players have become
jaded by SlantSix.  Personally I've had a lot of fun with it, and I'll certainly be getting this DLC (but not for 15 US).

^ i am one of them
slant 6 should never touch another ps3 franchise
the game took a year to come out of "beta" phase an things that were advertised on the box only came THIS year wdmc

we we're promised dlc regularly but alas they had to fix the "beta" 1st with numerous patches each weighing in at around 500MBs an tourney/clan ladder feature still messed up

socom WAS sonys big online shooter (not kz , not anything else)
and to give the franchise to these rookies for them to frig it up that badly jus pushed ALOT of ppl away.

still no dam party system, ah man hadda press the ps button then look for his friend on the xmb to see wat channel and room he in, press the button to take off d xmb, go an SEARCH for d channel an game wdmc all da jus to play ah game with a padna??

is a dam good thing i bought my  headset for 60US an got socom free in d box yes

new ppl to socom wudnt know wat all d fuss is about but they never experience the greatness of zipper's socom 2

even to this day die hard fans still jus wan an hd remake of socom 2 put on the store an wud play that over confrontation

this is exactly why i say most if not all of the socom die hards wud probably pick up MAG and from the beta they were alot judgin by the games i got where ppl communicated.
a socom vet cud tell another socom jus by communication thats how i know they were socom ppl :)

one last question arc
is confrontation ur 1st socom?

this might be old news for some, if so i apologize in advance

In a presentation last month, Sony's Kaz Hirai mentioned that Sony was considering a premium PSN service that would come with a monthly fee. New comments from the company show that this idea is clearly gaining momentum.

very soon the PC , and possibly the ps3 might have pay to play online multiplayer models, following the 360's stead.

this was one of the selling points for me on the ps3, i hope its only a supplemental change, where you play for additional services and not a multiplayer subscription fee or some nonsense like that.

old news
and no it wont
sony already stated that the current service ie free online play wouldnt change an wud b offering an optional premium service

sony not that dumb to screw d ppl who bought into the whole "hey come buy a ps3 an not a 360...we got FREE online :)" advertising
they doin d smart thing by making the premium service optional and not forcing ppl to go premium to play online but instead offering other (hopefully useful) features to the premium service

Blu-ray 3D specifications finalized, your PS3 is ready

http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/17/blu-ray-3d-specifications-finalized-your-ps3-is-ready/

In case plans by AMD and a slew of other tech vendors planning to showcase 3D Blu-ray compatible products at CES wasn't a tip-off, the updated specifications are done. The key details? First, that the Blu-ray Disc Association has chosen the Multiview Video Coding (MVC) codec to store 3D, so that even though it is now providing a full 1080p frame for each eye, it will only require about 50% more storage space compared to the 2D version, and all discs will be fully backwards compatible, in 2D, on existing players. Better than backwards compatibility, the PlayStation 3 will be forwards compatible with the new discs -- a new HDTV setup (the spec promises to work with plasmas, LCDs or projectors equally well) with IR emitters and glasses will still be necessary. According to the PR (after the break) we can expect Blu-ray 3D-stickered products in 2010, our only advice is to keep those responsible for the Cowboys Stadium abomination far, far away from it.

Survey: Sony Considering Premium PlayStation Network Subscriptions
« Reply #2296 on: December 18, 2009, 04:11:26 PM »
Nothing confirmed here, not willing to pay for cross game chat.

Quote
http://kotaku.com/5429592/survey-sony-considering-premium-playstation-network-subscriptions

A survey sent from IPSOS Online Research indicates that Sony is considering premium subscription plans for the PlayStation Network, detailing potential prices and premium services, including full hour game trials, free access to PSOne Classics, and cross-game voice chat.

Reader Brenna sent us PDF files containing the Sony survey, which begins with the following bit of text:

Sony is considering offering a premium PlayStation Network subscription in the future. The subscription offering would provide new premium features you could choose to pay for and are in addition to the features currently available for free such as access to online multiplayer gaming (current features would remain free).

Following the introduction is a series of definitions of terms such as Token Wagering - a set number of tokens given to subscribers per month that can be used to be on games and exchanged for PSN content - and Cloud Storage Space for Games, which would allow players to save their game online rather than on their hard disk, protecting their data.

Other notable services listed as potential premiums include loyalty reward programs, automatic updates, member-exclusive Facebook Connectivity, an online music service and music video service, Hulu TV catch-ups, member-only game content, discounts, demo-sharing (sharing exclusive member-only demos from your full games with friends), and Netflix without a disc.

By far the most attractive premiums are full title trials, which give the user one hour access to full PlayStation 3 games, and free access to PSOne Classics, PSP minis, and premium themes.

The list also indicates that some eagerly awaited features could be subscriber only, such as cross-game voice chat. Having waited so long for the feature, I doubt fans would be particularly happy to have to pay for it.

The chart below details four potential plans, with three costing $69.99 a year or $9.99 a month - more than an Xbox Live Gold subscription, and one running $4.99 a month and $29.99 a year.

We've contacted Sony for comment on the survey, but have yet to hear back as of press time. Just keep in mind that companies regularly test the waters by sending out questionnaires like these, and they by no means represent any concrete plans on Sony's behalf.

It seems as if they simply want to gauge customer reaction to the various plans and features. Your reactions, please?

they are trying to do to much things.
Will the free access to PSOne classics and PsP minis be like a zune subscription where if you cancel your subscription you lose access to the content you paid for.
