Hey guys, got Ratchet and Clank Future: TOD and Oblivion GOTYE yesterday. Needless to say, haven't set foot in the world of Oblivion. If Ratchet and Clank wasn't a must buy before...it is now! On a side note, it comes with firmware update 1.94 on the disc....so get to buying! Later.

i have a long standing mistrust of what sony shows people in ads and what the actual game is like
ever since final fantasy 7

but if its even close to wat the commercial says
that is really really innovative

*see, credit goes where credit is due*

For my money, Rock Band is definitely a must buy. The only question I have is which system to buy it for. I usually prefer the 360 because of the Achievements. I have a feeling that this will be the big item for the holidays this year along with the Wii again.

On that topic >>>

Rock Band Short Supply

Quote
Speaking to investors during a conference call, EA CEO John Riccitiello said that he was "highly confident" in Rock Band and didn't expect to be able to meet demand for the game.

"If I were you, on the nineteenth of November, I would get in line outside your favourite retailer, because we've got one hot product," Riccitiello said.

The game, which he described as a "band in a box," will retail for USD 169 when it launches for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 19 in the US. A slightly cheaper PS2 version, at USD 159, will be released in December.

"We've got a lot of inventory coming. My expectation is that it will sell through," Riccitiello said.

EA will follow with a European launch at the end of Q4, and expects the game to be similarly strong there.

"This is definitely not a sprint. We're not going to be able to put enough inventory to meet demand in North America or Europe this calendar year or this fiscal [year], but we expect this to sell through both the balance of FY 08 and through FY 09, with songs coming every week, add-on SKUs, all sorts of stuff."

Well the new firmware is coming soon to PS3's....
Tomorrow to be exact....(or tonight) :P

LOTS OF GREAT FEATURES...
But still no In-Game XMB :(

Quote
Latest PLAYSTATION®3 System Software Update Allows PSPTM to Turn PS3TM On and Off from Internet Connection for Enhanced Remote Play

Ability to customise XMB™ and add personalised playlists for both music and photos also enabled

London, 8 November 2007 - Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) announced today the availability of the latest version of the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) system software. Version 2.00 features the ability to turn a PS3 system on and off remotely, using a PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) system via the Remote Play1 function, allowing for a truly mobile partnership between the two systems.

Building on the success and potential of the Remote Play functionality, Version 2.00 will cement the partnership between PS3 and PSP and create a truly global experience. With the ability to turn your PS3 on and off from Wi-fi connection, there is now the opportunity to listen to the music, look at the photos and watch the videos saved on the PS3 Hard Disk Drive, anywhere in the world.

To further enhance the PS3 offering, Version 2.00 allows for the creation of personalised playlists in both the music and photo sections. This simple to use function gives users an opportunity to create unlimited music playlists for all occasions, as well as sharing favourite photos in glorious high definition.

Continuing with the idea of a personalised PS3, Version 2.00 allows for customisation of the XMB™ (XrossMediaBar) menu screen. Change the colour and brightness with the greatest of ease or have something completely different by setting a custom theme. With the potential for new backgrounds to become available on PLAYSTATION®Network in the future, Version 2.00 truly opens up a whole raft of options.

A host of other enhancements includes the addition of an Information Board on XMB to keep people up to date on the latest PlayStation® news, the inclusion of a new PLAYSTATION Network category and logo for easier navigation and Trend Micro Web Security, a free2, state of the art internet security system, designed to give parents peace of mind.

Using gamespot for over 5 years now. They dont suck, they just rate hard no ass. If a game gets a 8/10 consider buying it without doubt. I think they are right to be critical. People big up IGN so much, the MOST inconsistent reviewer is IGN fyi. btw i have insider access to IGN and Gamespot Premium accounts. I use both, to their FULL extent. And being a former game reviewer for a couple US sites, IGN is excellent for news and updates, but i dont like them for reviews. Gamespot is the other way around. Use gamespot for their graphics comparison.
If you want a consistent source check gamespy. But their reviews are too short.

Whichever version of assassins creed LOOKS better ill get the PS3 or 360 version.

for apprentice.....lawd boy. Like light writing is all the rave now :P

Dude... you spell the name of the game wrong!!
lol
And demo is coming today sweet!

As for the firmware update...
Came out 11:30pm Trini time November 7th... :D

Got it around 12:30am nov 8th...

Its awesome man... The theme chaning is great...you can change the system font...change all the icons on the ps3...FOR FREE.......you can also CREATE your own themes, using special software sony wll soon release (just like for the psp) (Official themese will come out via the Playstation Network)
any updates concerning the playstation world...like a new game out, reviews,  new ps3 sku etc..etc.. will pop up in a "information bar" at the top right hand corner...

>>> New Playstation Network Icon on the XMB, i.e. Main Icon...
Friends now on its own dedicated vertical menu...

Support for Dualshock 3 controllers..

New flash player built in to the web browser...

Further remote play support, that is, if you have a psp, you can turn on your ps3 (from any wifi hotspot in the world) that is, once the ps3 is  connected to the internet...
Access all files on the ps3, music, photos, videos, even start up the ps3 web browser and go on sites like youtube... access the playstation store, queue up downloads of demos, wallpapers, themese etc... EVEN play ps3 games....like LAIR etc....

Playlists have been added for photos and videos...Pretty straight-forward.
Lets just say the GUI for adding photos and music to their playlists is amazing....

Other than that...minor tweaks have been made to the ps3 on the whole make this one AMAZING Update...
