The thing about it is Konami has hinted a few times already that they were interested in porting the game.  In the end even though Kojima has some say Konami has the final word and porting is all up to them.  I honestly don't want the game ported becasue it was the sole reason for my purchase.

im tired of everyone saying that it was made pretty clear that it wasnt being ported and people still having doubts just sounds pretty stupid to me at this point. if Hideo Kojima stating on more than one occasion wasnt enough then sony producing movie and game having six-axis controls should be enough and everyone knows sony wont wanna lose this one so if it comes down to it they would have no problem making deals.

Konami will port MGS4 if it doesn't sell ps3's in their homeland. The installed user base in Japan for both systems isn't spectacular at all so they're going to want to make as much profit as they possibly can over a game they spent -a lot- of money on (because we knows ps3 development costs are high...for now). From there, they'll consider whether or not the installed user base is big enough in other markets to warrant a port because it is, technically, possible. The sixaxis control is nothing they can't swap out for something else if they (Konami) want money... so using that for justification is blowing my mind. Sony producing the movie, similarly, shouldn't be used as justification because SCE and Sony Pictures aren't that related as subsidiaries and currently the only thing linking them together other than the Sony umbrella head, is bluray.

So...I don't consider it a likely happening... a port, that is...but dismissing it is kinda skilly.

ok i can agree with u here i just think its stupid that people cant stop saying it like if they so sure its gonna happen. Its just annoying to hear it so often if it does port talk about it but atm it isnt looking likely so i dont see why people keep mentioning it.

Heavenly Sword Date Set

US, August 3, 2007 - Get your blades sharpened as Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that Heavenly Sword will hit shelves on September 12th. Developed by Ninja Theory and published by Sony Computer Entertainment exclusively for the PlayStation 3, the game is Sony's attempt at creating the equivalent of a summer blockbuster with extremely detailed cutscenes and action sequences that borrow style from martial arts films.

A short demo for the game is now available on the PlayStation Network.

AND!

Unreal Tournament III to Have Mouse/Keyboard Support

Mark Rein:
Quote
Folks,

I checked with Steve Polge and he said that YES we are supporting keyboard and mouse in Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3. He is confident we are doing it in a way that will be balanced without feeling "gimped" for either side. We'll also allow people to choose whether or not they want to allow mixed controller vs. keyboard/mouse games or not.
I think you guys are going to love UT3!

More details to come later.

President Tanaka also stated, "As we are aware of the popularity and hardware-driving power of this software franchise, going forwards we are open to taking this franchise across to other platforms."

that's the one statement that led me to believe that they are seriously thinking about porting the game.

PS3 80GB on Sale Now

Sony Computer Entertainment America Announces Availability of New 80GB
PLAYSTATION(R)3 (PS3(TM))

Million-Selling Online Racing Game MotorStorm(TM) Packed In With New System;
Sales of Existing 60GB PS3 Continue to Surge

FOSTER CITY, Calif., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Computer Entertainment
America Inc. (SCEA) today announced the availability of a new 80GB
PLAYSTATION(R)3 (PS3(TM)) at online and brick-and-mortar retailers in the
United States and Canada. The system, available immediately for a suggested
retailer price of $599US/$659 CND, comes with the hit online-enabled off-road
racing game MotorStorm(TM) packed in the box.
Featuring an expanded hard disk drive, the new 80GB PS3 is designed to
appeal to the online gaming and entertainment enthusiast, providing ample
storage space to download more games and other entertainment content from
PLAYSTATION(R)Network. There are currently more than 60 playable games and
game-related downloads available through PLAYSTATION(R)Store, with expanded
entertainment content coming soon. The new model features the million-selling
game MotorStorm in the box, allowing up to 12 players to play online at one
time, hitting the dirt in this visually-arresting, fast-paced racing title.
"The 80GB PS3 offers expanded options in the PS3 family of products for
those who want to enjoy more downloadable content," said Peter Dille, senior
vice president of marketing, SCEA. "The new model will provide ample storage
space to meet the appetites of those who wish to download content today, and
for many more years to come. With the expanded disk capacity and dynamic
system upgrades, we have effectively created a system that is 'future-proof',
providing consumers an exceptional entertainment value that will stand the
test of time."
The 80GB model joins the existing 60GB PS3 that has been available at
retail since launch last November. The 60GB PS3 is currently enjoying a surge
in sales following a price reduction in the US and Canada on July 9 of $100 to
$499/$549 CND. Since that date, unit sales at the company's top five
retailers have jumped 113% when compared to the average sales of four weeks
prior to the price drop. SCEA will continue to sell the 60GB in the US and
Canada at the new, reduced price until current inventory is depleted, which is
predicted to be this fall based on current consumer demand.
Throughout the holidays and this fiscal year, more than 120 new first and
third-party software titles will be available for North American PS3 users to
enjoy, in addition to the more than 40 software titles currently available.
Key upcoming first-party titles include Folklore(TM), Heavenly Sword(TM),
LAIR, NBA '08, Ratchet & Clank(R) Future: Tools of Destruction(TM),
SingStar(TM), SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation, THE EYE OF JUDGMENT(TM),
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, PAIN, and Warhawk(TM).
Both the 80GB and 60GB PS3 models come standard with Cell Broadband
Engine(TM) (Cell/B.E.), built-in hard disk drive, 1080p high-definition
output, Wi-Fi connectivity, SIXAXIS(TM) wireless controller and Blu-ray
Disc(TM) player. According to Nielsen VideoScan, there are currently more
than 270 high-definition Blu-ray Disc(TM) movies available at retail,
including the recently released "300," "Shooter," and "Ghost Rider."

I've read that GRAW is the closest (save crysis) to DX10 like next gen graphics they've seen on the PC... played like crap apparently though. As for being on par with GOW... haven't seen it myself so I can't say, but it'd have to COME DAMN GOOD (and run properly) for me to even think to compare the two.

I tried the demo out and it's pretty damn kick ass, great graphics and all, took a few mins to get used to the gameplay since i am so used to playing rainbow 6 but it's defiantly a must buy on my list.

One thing that irks me about the PS3 is this error message I keep getting when I try to sign on to the network. It is some type of DSN error (I don't remember the exact message right now). The strange thing is that it works some of the time. I have a Wii and 360 and they both work flawlessly wirelessly (360 with the wireless adapter). I hope Sony is working on an update to fix this issue.

^yea i do get spontaneous disconnections...

Thats why I prefer wired..lol

But atm i need to run wirelessly.....

It was alot more frequent on the older firmwares....

Since 1.90 I've not been disconnected as much...and I've been able to download entire demos at less than 30% signal strength...

(which always failed prior to this update..)
