Sony plugs PS3 into folding@homeFor a rare spot of positive PRBy Paul Hales: Friday 16 March 2007, 10:18SONY SAYS IT WILL add a button to the Network Menu on its PS3 to enourage users to connect to Stanford University's Folding@home programme.Or users can optionally set the application to run automatically whenever PS3 is idle, it annnouced last night.Folding@home is a distributed computing project attempting to broaden the understanding of protein folding, misfolding which can cause diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, cystic fibrosis and many cancers. In its announcement Sony claims its Cell chippery is "roughly 10 times faster than a standard mainstream chip inside a personal computer."An associate professor of chemistry at Stanford University said he was "thrilled" to welcome Sony to the, um, fold. µ
i agree with shiv here i loved my ps1 and ps2 and a bad launch is in not gonna stop me from buying it but i dont understand why people feel the need to convince other people its good let them decide for themselves. This also goes for the console bashers i hate reading any topic on ps3 on this site because those people who dont like ps3 constantly bash it and it gets pretty annoyying, If you dont like ps3 dont view ps3 topics and stop trying to convince me not to buy one

Key PS3 titles to miss launchEuropean woes mountBy Dean Pullen: Tuesday 20 March 2007, 11:21THE EUROPEAN LAUNCH of the Playstation 3 has been marred by many set backs, including a considerable four-month delay over the arrival of US and Japanese systems. Now it seems European punters expecting a plethora of high quality games will have to wait even further, as the launch will incur a considerable dirth of titles from the likes of Ubisoft and Vivendi Games.Ubisoft's Splinter Cell: Double Agent is due a week after launch, while Bethesda's Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion won't be released until April 27.Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, currently at number two in the charts, has been put on hold until June, while a spring date has been mooted for the PS3's rendition of Rainbow Six: Vegas. All of these titles are currently available for Microsoft's Xbox 360 console.Ubisoft is left with only Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII and Enchanted Arms for the launch day of Sony's Playstation 3.Vivendi Games has also put back the release of the Playstation 3 version of F.E.A.R. - the title will not arrive for European PS3s until April 20.The PS3 is launched at the end of the week in Europe on the Friday 23rd of March at a price of £425.
i feel for you guys
In all honesty, if MGS4 and FFXIII stay exclusive to PS3, I will get one eventually. It will have to take a few price drops first, though. I can wait. I suspect we may get versions (at least of MGS4) for 360 also.
