funny, i heard the fight night looks better......
funny i played em all at E3 and didnt really notice a difference

well from the vids we saw on G4 it did look better but i wouldn't take what i see seriously from the tv footage to give a comparision.
like i said it's what i heard and it isn't hard to believe from what i saw.
it was after a hands on of the game like you had so i guess i don't know who to take seriously

as for buying it, it's probably going to be a real pain to get one until at least next year. i remember trying to get a ps2 when it just came out....

I find the PS3 fanboys real quiet lately considering their 'prime' console has been launched.. must be all the negative press:

Mayor blames Sony for PS3 day of chaos

Boston boss legals computer giant

By Dean Pullen: Monday 20 November 2006, 21:39
Click here to find out more!
THE MAYOR of Boston, Thomas M. Menino, has vowed to bill Sony for the trouble caused by the PS3 launch day chaos.

Speaking to the Boston Herald Menino spoke about the situation frankly, "We had to rush in 12 police cars with officers there and take them off the streets of our city where they're doing their patrols, to squelch the crowd that we had there" he said, referring to a crowd of 500 at a local mall.

"It's something that should not be tolerated" he said. "It's wrong to take advantage of the public that way, wrong by the manufacturer and by the retailer."

"The mayor feels this is a ploy by big business to fill the pockets of their stockholders on the public’s back without any regard for public safety" said a spokeswoman, for Menino.

The local Best Buy store at the mall had refused to take into account a list that had been created by customers in line, but were subsequently forced to by police.

"The store said our list was meaningless; it's going to be a mad rush, and whoever gets through the doors first gets one" said one queuing customer. Elsewhere, mobs of customers stampeded into stores, injuring a man in Wisconsin and forcing authorities to close a Wal-Mart in California.

In Connecticut, two armed thugs tried to rob a line of people outside a Wal-Mart and a prospective PS3 owner refused to give up his money and was subsequently shot. He was in stable condition yesterday at hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sony spokesman Dave Karraker said that the chaos "It's not something we planned or foresaw," he said, but even the mainstream media understood that this was a likely outcome with the Herald writing, "If Sony didn't, nearly everyone else seemed to know that limited supplies and high demand were a formula for trouble." µ

I would have put this in the violence in gaming thread, save this is more a report on the happenings than adding 'new' reports of violence.

nah, even though i hate them,
its not sony's fault. and its irresponsible of the mayor to blame them.
WHy i say?

because all it was, was consumers wanting to purchase something and reacting how they wanted to that situation.

Like for instance, if every man in gatt decides that tomorrow we all assemble outside of hilo and in a mad rush try to buy out all the ramen in one hilo at the same time

the scene would be exactly the same, but that isnt going to be top ramen's fault. They never told us to mob hilo, we as consumers just wanted their product all at the same time and WE(the consumers) disregarded the safety of everyone else and decided to zerg hilo.

i mean, thats the price of capitilism, the very thing americans are so very proud that their nation is responsible for spreading like a virus.

hey I don't know if this was mentioned before and I don't know if anyone would care to know this,
but, the font used for the "Playstation 3" is the same font used as the titles for the Spider-man films!

PS3 update leaves users confused

Mystery update, was it good for you?

By Nick Farrell: Wednesday 29 November 2006, 13:39
PS3 USERS have been left scratching their heads over Sony's firmware upgrade for the PS3.

According to Arse Technica there are a number of bugs which the PS3 has, but Sony's version 1.11 upgrade did not seem to fix any of them.

There are a couple of threads that have opened on various PS3 message boards with the hope of trying to find the bug that version 1.11 fixed.

Apparently the Blu-ray scaling issue wasn't fixed, the browser is still slow, the store doesn't look different and there is no background downloading.

Arse did notice that there was a new account management tab, so punters can add more money to my virtual wallet to spend online without having to go to the store.

No one can believe that rather than help those people who managed to get a PS3 earlier by fixing bugs in their machines, Sony seems to just want to help them spend more money instead.

well we got one at work (JK)  albeit a japanese one.. not impressed much thus far, hopefully next year will be better for games. Only thing that had me impressed is a co-worker walking by Al Haaq with the controller and still being able to control the system in the store.

That doesn't really help us gauge the distance you talking bout.... thus can't be impressed...

i think the distance he referring to is just under 50 ft
Well then its no better than a 360 controller since my bros decided (in my absense) to see how far it would go... I think they walked out the house to the neighbour and it was still working...

i think is more than 50feet, but considering he was by the corner which is about 3 buildings away and across the road, i was impressed. PS3 excited me more while it was in the box.. Now if we could just get them to open the Wii...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Electronic Arts Inc. CEO Larry Probst said on Wednesday that initial sales of Sony Corp.'s new PlayStation 3 were half of what the console giant had targeted, due to shortages.

Probst's remarks pushed down EA's shares by nearly 2 percent, even though he said sales of video games and players were at or slightly ahead of targets at the start of the holiday season.

The chief executive of the world's biggest video game publisher said demand for the much-anticipated PlayStation 3 (PS3), which made its U.S. debut on November 17, was strong, but a shortage of supply meant that only about 200,000 units of the game console were sold at retail outlets.

The fact that they couldn't deliver just 400,000 Units at launch shows that they DEAD. Their costs are over their head and they didn't want to release 400,000 Units that needed Updates which ended up not fixing the problems that came with the system. Sony has overextended itself, competing with Nintendo in the Portable genre, and then with Xbox 360 in the HD Next gen genre. They are spending $850 on each PS3 and selling it for $600. Do the math. They couldn't afford to produce more than 200,000 because of the high cost of the machine. They didn't want to take a risk of spending more than $ 170,000,000.00 to end up spending even MORE to fix the problems that came with the system at launch, and have 400,000 angry PS3 owners instead of 200,000. All they've done is create Demand for a system with lame launch games and gotten Nintendo and Microsoft more sales for Christmas, essentially shooting themselves in the foot at the busiest shopping period.
