tried out d MAG beta d game siiick

controls are nice
0 lag...... i repeat 0 lag with 128 ppl
any questions yuh want answered ask away an if i can ill answer
so far im impressed
only thing i hoping for in d final game wud b custom matches cuz i saw ppl with clan tags
so i hoping in d final game we wud b able to host custom matches on smaller sections of the maps for some nice 8v8 wars.

My first question is  what does the control play like ? From the vids it seems to be similar to COD4

control wise normal FPS
takes maybe one or two more shots to die than cod like kz (kz was 4 shots so around there)
its not 'run an gun'
run and gun and u die....and die ALOT
repsawns take 20secs sometimes
so yea for d run an gun ppl u might wanna rethink that plan an use some tactics cuz u'll be sittin there for 20 secs thinkin about how dumb that was tryin to run an gun it.

 defending is easier than attacking since the defenders are holed up in the place they need to defend and attackers hav the task of breachin the compound and securing the objectives
i hav not been on a side where the attackers hav won yet tho we did come close.
the leadership role wud really shine for the attackin team as a team with a good leader might b able to come up with proper strats for breachin an securing objectives.....BUT this IS PSN so ppl dont listen an ignore an run about doin there own thing an dont use mics so yea its gonna be tough.

guns handle well, got some recoil to it which is nice
hmmm wat else

snipers wud hav a field day on this picking guys off from afar
this might be the 1st game where i use the fragfx more than my controller

beta re-opens at 8pm ill try to play some more an check some more things out hopefully once im not in a party for U2

Were u impressed with the graphics? So from what you seeing here this is a true large scale battle, I thought they woulda put some restrictions on it such as squads being restricted to only certain parts of the map etc...

How does the mic work? Is it push to talk? Any other useful communication features?

well platoons are doin different objectives so yuh never see every man jack in one spot not unless the attackers can actually force u back to ur last point of defence then every1 wud converge on the last objective but that is for the 256 battles the smaller 1s might not b that way since one of d games i played was to breach the compound seize two trucks an escort them back out think that was da 128 one. For the 64 player one we were defending two points an wen they took those we were pushed back to make a last stand at point C where we held them off until time ran out.

havent played a 256 battle yet only 64 and 128

mic seems to be push to talk hadda confirm not sure.

graphics....well i playin on SD till next year so graphics wise i wont b able to judge maybe wen apprentice get his up he cud tell yuh but from wat i saw looks to be cod graphics

if ah cud use another one of my accounts to access d beta then i'll try out SVER
not too interested in Valor since they are standard military been there done that.

jus won a match as the attacking side. it was over pretty quick since the other team probably had no communication an we were pretty organised

one problem tho......factions might b a problem cuz if ur friends join different factions then u wont b able to play with them so that ppl get ur factions in order
ppl i play with movin RAVEN or SVER will decide l8r down but rel likin d tech-ish RAVEN guys

ok so i got the beta key and played a few rounds so far, only the 128 battles tho where u have to either defend some vehicle or try to capture it. i've been on both sides and i its true that defenders seem to win more, and i think the main reason for is because of how powerful snipers can be in this game..

As what blu_vice said before this isn't a run and gun style game, if your like me who picked the SEVR group cause they have weapons that look like AK-47 and you can run into the heat of battle you'll be on the respawn screen longer than u'll be actually playing the game, there are a number of reason i've noticed why this happens, to start off this game no lag even tho its in beta and has a high player count. so a sniper can camp in 1 spot and have a field day picking ppl off, there is no kill cam like cod tho as soon as u die the camera points exactly to the spot where the person killed u from.

You should also know that, you *don't* regenerate life.. there is a rader much like COD4 standard team deathmatch mode, that shows where you are if you fire the gun. so you got to be real careful because if you try to flank them and you fire your gun, you just sold out your location.

I know the game allows you to make up your own custom setups but because i've not at a high lvl enough to know exactly what it has to unlock but i assume there will be basic gear such as a silencer for you guns. Graphically this game does not look like a exclusive title, after you seen what the system can do with other games like resistance, uncharted, killzone. MAG just isn't at that high polished lvl but keep in mind this is a beta... I understand tho that it will not look as great as the other games i've mentioned due to the share size of maps and amount of ppl playing, all i'm saying is that the visual quality is not as high as the other 1st party games we have gotten use to.

explosions look like bland black/brown dust at least from the big ones i saw from the Aircraft strikes. Shadows for some of the buildings and trees are clearly just pre-rendered and the little bit of real time lighting i saw from things like the outpost turret reminded me of direct-x 7/8 quality from games like counterstrike source (tho i could be wrong)  

Another odd audio bug i noticed was while sniping once i was in zoom of the scope explosions/gun fire got quiet so it made it hard to tell if a grenade fell near me or not and i checked my speakers and this game was in fact running in DTS Surround Sound

Ok, ok.... i know i said quite alot of negative things about it and yes i understand its a beta and not final, but there really are quite a few things this game does very well, such as not having any noticeable lag, also the structure of the game never seemed to break into complete mindless chaos like what i find was all to common in resistance 2 60player games, the objectives in MAG keep this a bit more controlled. the way it feels to fire the gun feel much more like cod4 where it is more responsive than in killzone 2 (which i prefer)..


anyway i'm sure this post is HUGE! so i'll stop there tho i'm sure there are more pros and cons to list... if there is anything else u wanted to know u can ask, last thing tho i'll say is that, after getting my beta key and dloading i had no problem getting the beta, worked for me my very 1st try and that was yesterday (monday)

yea u dont regenerate health but u are given the option to carry around a med kit to inject yuh self an regenerate ur health or a repair kit to repair bunkers, AA Guns etc
the repair guy is key, let an opposing team destroy ur bunker an u get forced back further an lose that as a spawn point until its repaired.
same with AA Guns, let an opposing team destroy that an they wud be able to send helicopters in as mobile spawn points until its repaired

attachments u buy wen u lvl up, i bought a reflex scope for the assault rifle i'm using
im saving the skill points i get for later so i can afford the better stuff we i lvl up.

grenade throwing in this game tho did seem weird.
so far i really hav no worries with the game jus the fact that in order to play with friends every1 need to be in the same faction and based on beta doesnt look like we can create custom games for smaller sizes on a section of the map like warhawk did.

not a sweat game imo, fun to hop in an play a few but not sweat
hopefully in the full game they give us the option to create custom games for smaller sizes below 64

but if u want a better headset than crappy bluetooth and cheap by all means this is a gr8 buy jus not wat i want, i rather put d lil extra an get something sweeter
