I agree with Captain Awesome's comments.

Yes I have encountered first hand the Dell GX260/270 issues, it took a by chance perusal of a forum to diagnose it, and up to January this year Dell was replacing the motherboards for free.

Like Capt. Awesome, i don't like techies who like to show off in front of others. I respect any tech I meet as my equal. If I encounter an issue i can't fix i rely on them for suggestions. The market too saturated to be playing poshness for each other.

Crixx I do think you went too far and get caught up in their foolishness.

I did enter my own view in a civil manner, challenging W2J for his attitude, but his answers are feasible assuming the customer is that technically inclined.

Bad capacitors would indeed cause the system to reboot while on the loading screen. I have seen it many times with my own eyes. Sometimes the system may even start but be unstable. I've even fully reformatted a system and have it cut off during boot right after only to realize that it has leaky caps.

A system that cuts off during boot time can have a variety of problems. Sometimes it may give a brief blue screen which could indicate memory failure or corrupted file system. In some cases, overheating cpu due to non functioning cpu fan can be the culprit. The first and easiest thing would be to first run chk disk command from the recovery console. If that runs fine and fixes errors (if any) then its on to hardware problems. It would be helpful to use the dos version of memtest or just swap out the memory. If all seems to be well hardware wise, THEN a format can be done after backups are made etc.

I mean, I didnt go to any school to teach me this stuff, but as the old people say, experience is the greatest teacher.

Just a side note. I HATE people who feel they are tech gurus and blankly dismiss things. I HATE people who have the attitude that they know everything and that they are the be all and end all of tech. As pablo said, REAL technically skilled people DO NOT go on forums and act like those guys did on tuner. Those are the fronters and can be easily spotted.

secondly i agreed with W2J about his assesment of the issue and a fix for it.
Should be system restore first then console obviously.

The reason for me blowing up on silly car boy was that he jumped wayyyy ahead of the gun and could have had teh noob digging around in the mobo for no reason.

and i really wanted to stomp out the silly tuner peoples attitudes, when it comes to computers they have such little knowledge and yet try to give the ones with the knowledge real lip and attitude ugghhh they sickening.

Like that guy who was trying to palm off that pc for that ridiculous price.

Iam glad i went ultra mega saiyajin cs2 mode on them lol

fellas a man do something like that in an anandtech forum and BOOM about 10- 15 pages of flame de man get yes.... surprising thing was the moment he call qualifications into the scene he get nuke oui... lesson learnt doh brag is a free country... btw GuY get OwNt by GATT

hoss i never had an ipod... ok i poor i have nothing flashy, working wit a fone that have a broken screen going on like 4 years . i just got a job and am seeking to better my standing. true i young buh that doh say meh parents rich or nutten i come from a broke family (the type that lives day to day) so i moved out with my gf and am sticking it out for a better life.
