The things you encounter as a PC Techie:

7:30pm. You arrive at the home of a known good customer of yours. Problem: no internet. So you go through the usual troubleshooting methods:

cables? - all cable to DSL modem and PC look fine.
PC network settings? - no firewall found, PC has a manual IP adress and DNS settings, so you chance to obtain IP via DHCP and leave DNS due to TSTT's DNS isues
Login to router? -  all seems well initially. A diagnostic check on router identified failed authentication. I was gonna try my account on router till the router rejected my password as "invalid" because it has a non-alphanumeric character in it. From here it all gets interesting:

Next step: tell customer to have password reset. I was gonna make the call myself till daughter ups and makes a 'special call' out of my view and has the account reset in record time (mom is the client). With the password reset to the standard "123456"  I tried it again. Still no dice.

After half hour the Paradyne modem's Activity light had flashed maybe ONCE since I came. Tried a few modem resets via unplugging (forgot to do the full reset), still nada.

Realizing that the daughter has a laptop, I asked that the daughter bring her laptop so I can plug the modem into it to eliminate the primary computer as an issue. Daughter refuses.

At this point I realized that I was going from being a PC tech to interfering in domestic affairs and politely excused my self from the customer's home. But not without satisfying my curiosity...

I get to find out the following:
1. Daughter has her own DSL modem in her room!!! Meaning yes, mom and daughter has independent DSL connections, in the same house! You know how much money mom could have been saving per month??
2. Daughter who is almost my age, has an attitude problem
3. Daughter WORKS AT TSTT - now this is the Killer. So you're telling me that you WORK TSTT and  more or less refused to aid your own mom with her DSL problem? I'd slap you down myself if you weren't 6 foot 1!!
 
Imagine customer's surprise when I told her that you can share a single DSL modem connection between multiple computers, each being online independent of the other. My personal surprise is that daughter does not seem to know this or care. -Typical- TSTT employee...

The end result at this point is that customer may have to carry modem in to change and I opted to check her account usage online on a another computer: "account deactivated"

But that daughter....

Sounds like she's spiteful....d/connected mom's DSL for kicks, and obviously didnt say anything about it for the same reason. It have too many woman like that dread.

WTMC when Amazon eh ship my COD4 yet...

WTMC when a "Technician" from TSTT came to my house when I wasn't here yesterday, told my dad he's upgrading the service from DSL to ADSL (yes folks you heard right he said we had DSL before now he's giving ADSL). Now, dsl/adsl  is totally screwed, apparently from TSTT's side since I cant get through with any of my "backup" accounts that are confirmed to be working. The man gone and take away my nice simple speedstream and drop the ishhy paradyne. Now typing this from *shudders* dial up.

Allll this after dsl/adsl was working FINE yesterday. In all fairness he was only there because I issued a work ticket after the net went down for some hours last week WEDNESDAY. Man now appear yesterday, almost a week later. But still. WTMC

Typical indian yes..fighting down. Panday made his bed with he mouthing off and now wanna blame COP for his loss lol, the Silver Fox should rename himself the Senile Fox. I could never support that man again nah.

I hope COP doesn't fade away and sticks around so that in 2012 they MAY be considered a viable alternative if Manning foaks up (but for some reason I feel things might be different this time around..in a good way. Call me insane)

WTMC when OJT has NOT only cut my pay three months in a row, but, upon closer inspection of my bank records, they have actually been dropping it since July!

To be precise:

July - $322.58 cut
August - $691.88 cut
September - $876.88 cut
October - $898.33 cut

Total: $2,789.67

WTF, OJT! I haven't missed a single day of work and you're cutting money out of my paycheck?!
At the rate this is going, pretty soon I'm going to owe them money when I work!
