If you want to OC the RAM etc, don't count much on Markvision RAM, but for cheap memory, they are quite good....just only leave it at stock if u ask me...

Markvision is a cheap brand of memory that, in my experience, works for a while, then quits. When it does work, it is a lowly performer. That memory is fit for the labass and should not even be given away because of its suckage.

So to recap...stay away

Yup markvision==elcheapo NOT for an enthusiast or something who demands high performance on stock even. I would suggest it as a cheap low cost system but definitely not for your gaming rig.

Nah forget that.  Crucial, Corsair, Kingston, Mushkin or Geil even, but DEFINITELY not Markvision.

lol, good thing i didn't buy it i did some research on it, they don't have a website, so talk was done there.
i manager to find a piece of kingston (my prefered brand) for about $60 more was worth it.

on another memory note, can you mix single and double sided RAM, i have a 256MB stick with the same specs as the 1 gig but i 'm not sure if there mix-able or not.

in general you shouldn't, though it may work. In fact try to get identical model RAM if pissible.

In a case like that the big name brands is always better... or even sell your single stick and buy a matched pair if you must

I agree with this statement. It's generally considered better to stay with a single brand EVEN if they're both excellent brands. Also alot of ppl would say to buy paired memory. This second point I have a slight skepticism about. I have through my own experience bought 2x512MG Kingston HyperX memory (seperate, not paired) and they worked perfectly in dual channel mode. My suspicion is that paired memory whilst is probably ideal is not altogethr necessary save earning a point or 2 in a benchmark. IF I have the time I will investigate the presmiss of paired memory and put up a report on it. Beo could potentially shed some light here if he's been monitoring the forums at all of late.

thanks for the info, they were both KVR pc3200 cl3 2.6v same timing and everything, i tried it, became unstable, in fact i couldn't leave my machine o/c with both sticks installed, i'll leave it out, the gig is fine, an extra 256 isn't worht the trouble. thanks again
