Not sure if this was posted already but here's some food for thought

New Line Cinema indicated it was producing an Iron Man film originally scheduled for release November 2005, then rescheduled to 2006 and then to 2007. The studio's rights eventually expired and reverted to Marvel. Nick Cassavetes would have directed the film.

Marvel Studios announced in April 2006 that it is producing the Iron Man movie in-house with director Jon Favreau and a script by Arthur Marcum and Matt Holloway with a planned release date of May 2, 2008. Favreau has begun a MySpace group, entitled "Iron Man Movie Group",in order to hear from fans about their preferences. The film will be distributed by Paramount Pictures.[3]

On July 22, 2006 at the San Diego Comic-Con, Favreau confirmed that the villain for the upcoming film would be the Mandarin. He also announced that, "The suit will be more like a weapons platform than a flying suit – more of a War Machine-feel to it."

lets hope marvel get the same people who do spider man to work on this, cause from what little i known about iron man, the soucre material ah that great.

I've always found the Iron Man character to be a bit boring...I mean they had to make the guy a drunk to "spice it up" a bit. Although, at just about any time during my life I can look back and say, "Hey, I was a comic book fanboy," that whole series always fell more than a little flat for me.

Hmmm @ suit... well I am hoping we'll see the development from that to something a bit more.... aesthetic... I too have never been a fan of the ironman series as well.. but I am always up for a GOOD motion picture rendition of a comic... that being said... there are more BAD ones than good... but still we are pleasently surprised every now and again by the good ones... (spiderman, Xmen....)

The suit looks good but it's still not so amazing....I prefer when movies like this stick to the original scripting and costumes...its easier to relate to something you grew up with. Plus when they try to change and reinvent the character and stories they portrait, it just comes out sucky.
Aside from that....drunk...and heart problems....is there is moral or story Marvel did not try to highlight ?

Im looking forward to this movie...and YAY for ILM doing the visual effects and also Skywalker Sound...now you we are reassured that it will be of a high standard.

the womanizing alcoholic rich boy fits downey well

man id love it if there is a capt a cameo and we get to see stark taking his stand opposite most heroes like he usually does.

Which suit you talking bout? Is about 3 different suit in this movie eh. The 1st one is the 'rough draft' (the 'Mark I').
The others are the red and gold that you may be used to from the comic.

Saw a trailer for it first time last night... actually part of the trailer... but from what I saw, it looked pretty decent. I hope they really polish it up by next year when its released... I am ALL for another marvel comic legend brought to life in a GOOD way!!!
