The future of driving is almost here
« on: July 24, 2006, 07:28:02 AM »
Check this out.
A truly 100% electric car, still in development though, but very promising.
A wickedly fast roadster (as they say) no less.  0-60 mph in 4 seconds.

http://www.teslamotors.com/

Just imagine not needing gasoline, ever.
The car literally plug and play.  One charge gets you 250 miles approx.
The only regular servicing needed is tyres and wheel-alignment.

Can you imagine when this becomes standard (its only a matter of time) the kinds of crazy mods
men will think up to apply to this engine?  In 20 years we might even see true anti-grav vehicles.

Things lookin up boy.  Ah might finally get mih flying car before ah dead.

thats interesting

ive been a follower of tesla and his inventions for a good while now

ive been planning alot of projects with an engineer friend of mine, to use tesla created car innovations.
Tesla is a super genius and his works should be celebrated.

But this fully electric car is not new, he created it back in the thirties, but i guess it took them a long time to figure out how he did it, so it would be great if they actually get this off the ground, cars built on teslas original design.

In his original design, the car was powered wirelessly from a giant  jacobs ladder for hundreds of miles away. Amazing stuff.

OH BELIEVE ME IT WILL. You'll cook while you drive... not cool... even the electric car... I wonder what kinda EMR that has with the coil etc driving the wheels.... hmm..

no yu will not cook while yu drive.
Using the giant jacobs, he was actually using radio waves to transmit power, i mean this man was a pureeee genius. Back in the thirties he created teh first fully electric car, powered by his jacob/radio transmitter that powered his car.

Yu dont cook at all, but the engine itself got hot, so he still had to use both passive and active cooling (air and water) on the engine, THe engine itself was really small though and it was no problem to cool it.

If yur interested in learning more,http://waterpoweredcar.com/stanmeyer.html, for more info on water powered cars, and http://waterpoweredcar.com/teslascar.html for more on tesla's first electric car.
Called the pierce arrow. very cool

As i said, my friend and i started workin on the water powered engine and the hydrogen booster.

He built a car for his engineering final project and now we are using it for tests on this, then we plan on using my car for the real deal.

Nice to know others may take interest

I still have my reservations on radio power as being safe but I guess it depends on the frequency we talking about. I can say that ppl who work in radio as many of my co-workers do, they'll tell you a RF burn is as nasty as it gets, you cook from the INSIDE OUT without even realizing yuh getting fried.... just to give an idea of the power yuh talking about there, suppose you wanted a 50MBps wireless link, ur antenna output would be in the KW range... FCC regulations dictate that for considered safe EMR levels < 1W is considered acceptable. Anything higher and yuh go get SUE iymc. So to power a car like the one we talking about here which produces 100+ W we talking REAL radio power hadda be transmitted crixx... again I say, I have my reservations.

nah yu thinking the wrong way.

The problem is very well known, transmitting at high power has many problems, the problem yu speak of, and attenuation problems.

But as i said, tesla was a GENIUS!! water powered electric cars that use onboard electrolysis instead of fuel cells have the similiar problem of being able to produce enuff wattage safely so they use step up techologies.

Tesla's genius allowed him to dial into a frequency of his choosing and he had the best step up technology possible at the time, to create enuff power to run his car.

I provided the links so yu guys could read and understand his genius!

I mean, the man successfully transmitted an electric current through the earths surface and had it picked up and discharged on the other side of the globe.

He also created ball lightning!! that lasted for long periods of time.

This man redefines genius! He created ac current as well

Pfft he created radio controlled boats and cars back in the thirties come on!! GENIUS!!!

I just read more than I should on the man. Genious indeed.

a shame he died destitute. wtmc wrong with the world, where a man that gave it so much should suffer financially in his old age.

but lawd, Thomas Edison was a real sicko. Fuss he didn't want Tesla's AC current to succeed and supplant his DC current technology, the man went around electrocuting animals to show people that AC current was dangerous.

Talk about die hard....literally.

lol @ offshore lol lol

well, the problem tesla couldnt get it produced earlier, is cause GE the biggest electric company in america, couldnt figure out a way to charge people for the power... they were like... where do we put the meter... and tesla was like uh... what meter?? it supposed to be free.

And they were like free clean efficient transportation for the masses??? O.o ..

and they cut his funding an shut his project down....

soooo we know waht may happen this rongs

understandable because there is no such thing as "free"

the whole of America driving around, bunnin current for free???

Someone have to be taking the hit for the power usage. That tower wasn't built on shake hand nor would be the electricity bill it would generate.

If they can't pass on that cost to the customers, then it would be doomed financially.

The answer would have been a meter in the car that would transmit it's usage back to the headquarters. Walking around to police those cars and take readings would be near impossible.

Seems like an obvious answer given his work with wireless transmissions.

It is also funny that the same man who would seem to have such humanitarian ambitions like "free power for the masses" would later go on to promote the development of a death ray capable of obliterating armies, dead in their tracks. Strange that the army didn't jump at the idea.

History is a helluva thing yes.

I jus want to know when they could make the thing fly.  Also a lil hyperdrive, or jump-gate tech wouldnt hurt either .   ^_^

Imagine flyin thru a jump-gate in POS, and BAMMM!!!  yuh in London, or Paris, or Honululu, or Moonbase Nebulon V.   ^_^

thru his experiments into transmitting electrical signals thru the earth, he developed a method of powering his giant jacobs ladder with the magnetic energy at the core of the planet..

So.. extreme amounts of free clean magnetic energy+way to step up power in cars that receive wireless transmission = totally free source of energy for masses= no profit but no loss either= UNAMERICAN= continued destruction of planet.

^^^^ Sad but oh so true.  Multinational oil companies wont roll over and die so easily in the face of
all these developments.  Even if these cars become standard.

Oh and I found out somewhere else (CNET) that the Tesla will be rumoured to cost around $90,000 US

but Crixx even if the source of the power itself is free, the tower and the distribution isn't.

That is still gonna cost money to setup and to operate. If that cost could not be past on to customers of the technology, then it wouldn't be viable. (as proved to be the case)

And w1ntry, I read about his plans for the Death Ray on wikipedia. Not all of his inventions were as noble as AC current. The remote control boat for instance. Though we know it as a toy and novelty nowadays, Tesla first demonstrated it to the army, figuring they would want it for remote control torpedoes.

Wikipedia is chuck full of too much info.

The year of 2006 was proclaimed by UNESCO as the year of Nikola Tesla, the man some credit as the invetor of the 20th century.

TMI immc.

lol @ arcman with fly and hyperdrive.

For US$90,000 it had better.

Actually baego, the tin foil hat is to prevent the military from scanning my brain or worse yet, using said death ray to fry me in my sleep 0_o In all honesty, the US military already uses high powered lasers as part of their antimissile defense. So as I said, I put on my tin foil hat....

the towers dont require  continual input of energy from a conventional source
has little to no moving parts, marvelous stuff and the cost of the towers can easily be past on to the consumers by sale of the cars at a fair premium.

The cars wont be free, but the source of power would be.
