Eragon the movie
« on: July 07, 2006, 05:24:08 PM »
Who read these books? They are really nice. Saw the trailer at E3 and the game. It looks pretty good. No trailer is up on the site yet, it was exclusive to E3. Nice storyline

Actually, I pretty much hated LOTR, so this one's definitely looking better to me.

Eragon itself is a copy of LOTR world and star wars plot... The book is real  entertaining but its still a serious rip off , nothing original if you know the fantasy genre . Movie will be good , cool CG fight scenes and stuff , but i go murder anyone who say Eragon story better than LOTR or hp .

Wait. hold up. yes i know that i was one of the first to start campainging the goodnes of Eragon, but to rate it above LOTR is to insult the LOTR in an unforgivable way. LOTR is the father of Eragon and many of the dragon sagas that we have being released today.
to compare Paolini and Tolkien is just wrong. ( It could be better than potter 4) Tolkien had an idea in his head and developed it. he was a linguist, a historian and a philosopher. Paolini borrows everything from everybody.

The description in Eragon is horrible and the only thing really of quality is the dialogue. Paolini does dialogue properly. And the story is totally botched in the movie. i can't wait to see how they pull it off.

**** potential spoiler
they show Eragon stabbing the shade in the trailer which is just wrong, Saphira looks like a mutated hippogriff, Galbatorix sounds like a gay and looks sooo old, Shruikan is way too small, and Eragon looks totally like  something off of Summerland. most people who read it have the kind of Anakin/Icham look for Eragon not the disney boy thing. and Murtagh? according to a wise man? How could you f--k that up? how?

I love Eragon. and i love Eldest. there is a 30,000 word fan fiction to back that up on shutugal, but the more i see those trailers, (and there is a different one coming out of the wordwork everyday), the more i am afraid to see it.

hoss yuh know that dragons actually have scientific names?
I didn't know that until like a few days ago when i see a book bout all the different type of dragons and the mythological significance they played in the culture of all civilizations.

I saw this movie a couple days ago and it was a lot better than I was hoping it would be. The ads made it seem closer to Harry Potter than LOTR (made more for a young audience). The movie, though, was closer to LOTR in tone and execution. The story flowed without too much extra information and the characters were likable without trying too hard to be. Of course, the best thing about it was the dragon. Having Rachel Weisz as the voice was a stroke of genius. The dragon was used to full effect in the movie as opposed to other dragon-focused movies before that had limited dragon time (Reign of Fire, Dungeons and Dragons). All in all, it seems a great start to a series and definitely recommended.

movie was good, but that’s all, it lacked any kind of emotion or drive; i never really was excited to see what was going to happen next, but i have to say that Mrs. Weis did a fantastic job.

Oh yeah, and nobody in that movie, especially the Evil king lead dragon rider man can NOT!! act good.

Oh geez what a load of crap this was. There was nothing dramatic in the plot. It just seemed to bumble along. How it suffered most though was with the one guy talking for the entire movie, explaining everything to the star of the show. I was better off reading the book, a book, any book.
