well, not necessarily, i mean, look at sweden's zlatan ibrahimovic and teddy lucic.. that definitely isnt a scandanavian name..

their names usually end in -son , -dottir , -berg

-vic is mid-european ( zlatan parents from bosnia, and lucic father is croatian)

so pronunciation alone is not a 100% indicator of someone's current nationality; just their heritage

Anybody who actually know football.....shud know that he's Spanish...He's one of the bes keepers in the world

USA shud get about 10 in dey hole

Hey, I don't know about you, but even I, a pure skeptic of T&T having a ghost of a chance of even making it this far, had to admit they did okay... this time. And I do believe saying numerous times that T&T needed to get their game face on, or risk getting knocked the fart out, which they did...this time, and I was happy about that.

Now, a question to you all.
Given our performance in the warm-ups, how can you not be a skeptic about our chances?
There were a few people like myself who doubted heavily that we'd make it this far, because we're seeing a lot to be desired.

And, personally, I'd still say that was true, because, despite defending well against the opposition, we still dropped the ball way too many times, and had quite a few close calls. Sweden failed to capitalise on that, but if we continue on the same path, what's to say some other team wouldn't?

And now, because of our victory, we have more confidence, yes, but we're being a bit too cocky now.
We may have been the underdogs in the match against Sweden, and we did win out on points, yes, but it's a tad too early to start going 'TIME TO OWN ALL THESE NOOBS' because we are still not championship material, unless we start playing more aggressively in the offense category.

Yes, I said it.
Even though I can be quoted as saying that the Warriors did rock my house by playing a great game defensively, later on that won't mean s**t if we don't start playing offense that well.

As for the whole bandwagon thing...that would only apply, I believe, to people who started to say 'I always knew they could do it!' and 'I'm T&T's #1 fan!' without any remorse over what criticism they had earlier. I do admit that I'm eating crow a bit now, seeing as how T&T did way better than I predicted, but I still have a few doubts, but a bit more confidence, because T&T probably just realised the whole gravity of the situation, and are beginning to think things over a lot more seriously now.

So, to both blind bandwagon hoppers and blind fanatics, I say shove it where the sun don't shine. If you suddenly gained faith after bashing without remorse, FUDGE YOU. Likewise, if you practise nothing but blind faith in the team without looking at the facts, FUDGE YOU, TOO.

P.S.: Just something of note. That last statement wasn't aimed at anybody. If somebody watches that and takes offense, well....I guess you had to be 'either or' to truly be offended, aren't you? Once again, just clearing that up. :)

People this is Trinidad where everyone is a critic ( freedom to express ones mind) as well as latecomers (bandwagon hoppers while in motion) not to mention a committed football fanatic(uses this as an excuse to go down angostura for the $40 special) so i guess it cant be helped.....

I agree NEO i still havent changed my mind on how far the warriors goin they did impress me a bit but the defensive play wont win them the cup to move out of group stage its gonna take alot theyll have to win at least one of the matches and hope sweden sux azz. To all those crazed fanboys dont get me wrong i want T&T to win it just seems very unlikely

I have a confession to make ^_^

I knew T&T would draw....basically my brother and I played FIFA world cup...I played T&T and he played Sweden...and the matched ended in a draw and holy guacamolee so did the real game!!!!

Then we played another match ...this time I played T&T and he played England and waddaya know we tied again.....so basically what I'm saying is ...we may draw again....I have faith and a lot of cocaine riding on this...we will succeed ^_^

a draw and a win plus a very good goal difference to advance empireking. That will mean we have to score real goals against paraguay because we not scoring plenty against england. Next thing we have to hope that england mash up sweden too. And just because we draw with sweden dosen't mean we beating england.

Is your boss pestering you about watching the world cup in the kitchen or lunch room instead of working behind your computer? or perhaps you're concerned that watching the world cup on your pc ala streaming could lead to a lawsuit because of a lack of a TV licence? Well fear no more and miss no more, now you can watch that game you've been missin right on your computer, just it'll be in ASCII. Yeah yuh head right, txt scrolling all over the place like mad. I haven't seen it work myself but I intend to check it out once it reaches 10 mins before a game (supposedly coverage starts then). So withou further ado here is THE WEBSITE FOR ASCII WORLD CUP COVERAGE and there are instructions on the site. To give you a just, it's a telnet thing. Enjoy!
