Everybody was like 'HUH!!?' when they see the controller for the 1st time, but them SAME people almost PEE themselves with joy when they actually see and use the controller in person.

Rumours puttin the price at about $350 US.  Just have to wait and see.

This may just be 1 up for Nintendo:

Sony, Microsoft about to be bottlenecked by Nintendo

EEE 2006 128-bit GPUs are old hat

By Theo Valich: Thursday 11 May 2006, 12:38

WE HAVE TALKED to a lot of developers here at E3 Halls, mostly over informal drinks. Several expressed extreme dissatisfaction over the performance shown by both Sony and Microsoft consoles.
The main problem for the PlayStation 3 console is that it is still in a heavy prototype stage. And the performance in many cases just isn't there.

One of the reasons offered to us is the actual hardware installed in the console. Since this generation was all about pricing instead of technology, those savings are the reason why Crysis and many more titles will remain PC exclusives, since consoles don't have the horsepower. Developers have voiced out their disappointment in not being able to do what they've planned to do.

One reason for failing to deliver the performance promises on both sides is the fact that both Microsoft and Sony products utilize 128-bit memory interfaces for the GPU, which cuts available bandwidth to half othat available on high-end products from the PC world.

Instead of a memory bandwidth of 44.8 GB/s, the Xbox 360 features only half of the number and, in practice, the Xenos GPU is working on levels of graphics cards somewhere around the year before the last one.

The PS3 is a bit more complicating (TurboCache feature with the system memory), we'll just focus on the GPU capabilities. The RSX has a memory clocked at 1400MHz but, again, you'll be just as stuck as with the Xenos GPU - cruising around at 22 GB/s.

CPUs are also a whole other story.

In the end, it seems that Nintendo will be the one to beat, especially with a dramatic price difference (for a price of PS3, you get complete console, around three games and some accessories). µ

Opera puts browser on Nintendo Wii

Wii not?

By INQUIRER newsdesk: Wednesday 10 May 2006, 09:00

OPERA SOFTWARE said its Web browser will be loaded onto Nintendo's Wii console.
Thanks to Opera, Wii users will be able to surf the Interweb from the comfort of their sofa, using the Wii Remote controller, the Norwegian company says.

Opera CEO, Jon von Tetzchner, hailed "visionary" Nintendo as a "wonderful partner" for Opera.

Nintendo returned the compliment, with a spokesWii branding Opera "an exceptional addition to both the Nintendo DS and the Wii console."

Opera's browser for the Nintendo DS is scheduled for release in Japan this summer. Nintendo has not yet announced its global launch plans for this product. µ

Most likely you will have to download the licensed ROMs from Nintendo.  Hence the inclusion of the browser.

This just keeps getting better and better.

In a interview for CVG Hideo Kojima told that he would like to run away from Metal Gear Solid 4 creation and create something for the Wii.

this is the part of the of teh interview:

CVG: What are your impressions of Nintendo Wii and how did Snake appear in Smash Brothers?

Kojima: I’ve played Tennis, Zelda and Mario on Wii. I find Tennis very interesting. I played the early version but the E3 version is far more advanced. As a game designer, I’m very interested in creating something for the Wii. I’d like to run away from MGS 4 creation and create something for the Wii but unfortunately, I don’t have anything that I can announce at the moment. I have lots of ideas for Wii but I have a heavy schedule with MGS 4 and Metal Gear Online. Concerning Snake’s appearance on Wii in Smash Brothers, I’m friends with the designer of the game and I thought it would be nice if you could play as Snake - when I heard about the new game last year, I contacted the designer and we started working together.

nintendo really lookin like it has a winner here with the wii....

but i still think they should have kept revolution as its official name :-)

in 6 months you ent gonna care about the name anymore

well, here's the thing....   in brazil.. ford didn't do any groundwork, and found out AFTER they launched their car, the Ford Pinto, that 'pinto', in brazil, was slang for small totie..

so that goes to show , that the name plays a relevant part.. 'wii'' just makes me think of takin a leak.. i'm sorry;love nintendo, love their console , love th econcept behind the 'wii' name....but jeez..

http://www.anvari.org/shortjoke/How_Do_You_Translate_That/12.html

marketing/brand management is important.....

not as stark as with this console.. but come on.. a better name could have been found

There was a better name....but, like I said before, it's not causing as big a stir as 'Wii'.

......and by 'stir', I mean a seemingly endless string of potty humor. OH, the HUMANITY.

seriously, depending on the price i might buy one since it not suppose to cost much, i still eh liking the control 100% but it should provide some fun.

not feeling the control??

will this help?

the classic controller... .not sure if all games gonna be able to use this ( the game might be dependant on the 'wii-mote' sensors) or if it gonna need to be hooked to the wii-mote

but i'd definitely get it, if only to play secret of mana
