My first touch with USB EVDO on a special tstt had for uwi students. Im paying 300 month. the service speed here at UWI now at 11.16pm is average 97-140kbps, thats on average 10 bandwidth tests. however i did get 426kbps a few times. but never got more than 450

however im quite satisfied with this, i've been online a few hours now, and i did not get disconnected. fastastic software from tstt. anyways the above speeds was at maximum signal strength, at 6 bars. the system uses the old tdma platform, if you get tdma by u, this would work. the average citizen will be able to sign up from next month, and pay 424 on a 2 yr contract, plus vat.

creator yu said tstt is not profit driven???
WHAT??? ARE YOU MAD???? WHAT DRIVES TSTT MORE THAN THE LOVE OF PROFIT????

tstt is not CUSTOMER DRIVEN!! that is what there problem is. Tstt love ah food to much das wah steupps.

and secondly that 424 + vat is a lil strange since tstt has been telling us that they will offer evdo to customers only if dsl is not available to them and then it will offered at a reduced cost. 424 seems a lil high for that.

When i say tstt is not profit driven, that means they do not provide a level of service to retain or attract new customers, they do not strive for new income, "if yuh dont want it shut up and get out" mentality. just like bwia.  that price of 424 is what i saw as an option on a form, that is for people w ith dsl. however i think its 375 plus vat for people without dsl, and 330 for uwi students post sept 30th (after the promo). i got good speeds today from 180-460, works greattt!!!

Reffering to the other post:

eventually TSTT will release evdo to all people in trinidad and tobago. but as you may know, the speeds should be around 400-700kbps, however we're getting a bit less than this. so that is why they released it to corporate customers, then uwi students, and soon customers without dsl, then ... all customers when its working fine.

reffering to the last post::

That $500 base rate is without any contract, $500 month to month and u have to pay for the modem, i think its 1575, however if u take a contract, 1,2,3yrs, u wud get the modem free, and a lower monthly charge...

hope i answered all the questions.

Well those who questioning about the pricing lists, definitely have not ever checked on TSTT's website for the service, cuz it's all listed there.... *looks at W1nTry*

The UWI offer, is it only available in the usb device to connect to laptops, or can it also connect to desktop systems as well? Cuz if it can be used to link up desktops, then I will definitely pick this one up in a couple of weeks...I still want to see the pricing layout officially for areas without DSL though...

again creator, yu are wrong about tstt not being profit driven.

THey do attract new business, all the time! WHYY???
BECAUSE PEOPLE HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE!

tstt doesnt have to work for our money because we have no other choice but to go to them, so obviously their level of customer service is piss poor.

Two years ago they reported a profit margin of 450+ million tt dollars!
THAS PROFIT AND NOT REVENUE!!!
and thas profit from piss poor service 2 years ago.
now they opening new business ventures to make EVEN more profit off of shi^%yy customer service and piss poor products.
Steups

Just my 2 cents ... I have been using Green Dot for a while now (1-2 years). I can't get DSL at home (not in the area) so I went with Green. I will grant them the excuse that they are new and they don't have a fiber-optic link out of T&T. I get decent download and browing speeds all the time and torrents are not bad either. Games are out, of course, but I have enough single-player stuff to last for a while. Their downtime has not been anywhere as bad as what I was used to with T$TT dial-up and their customer service is leagues ahead of what T$TT has. Is like the option to switch to Digicel ... You have to put your money where your mouth is. If enough people defect to other options (even temporarily), T$TT will be forced to change their attitude, pricing, service, etc. Money talks ... Money talks.

green dot is not an option for gamers though so yur excused.

If there was an option that was as shitty as green dot  but still not as mature as tstt, i would probably even switch to that. but yu see, it takes ALOT OF EFFORT to be as shitty as tstt and green dot.

Green dot over promised and under delivered. VERY VERY VERY BAD trend to have if yu want to focus on customer service. What you SHOULD do, is under promise and over deliver.
which no one does.

And there is tstt who just doesnt give  ^&(& because we have no choice but to go to them.

well i have the evdo service, and its working fine, just a lil low speed, but as with any new network, there are problems. so hopefully tstt should iron out these problems by the end of the year. im getting around 350kbps now.

There is a residential gateway which looks like a little wifi router with 1 ethernet port, so u can connect that to your desktop. Its kinda big to walk around with so I guess the desktop customers may more see this.

anybody tried internet connection sharing with the EV-DO USB modem?

Have a company that gettin hell.. they have to run the XP network setup wizard DAILY to have all their office PCs get net access. Guy doesn't want to use a router box casue he uses it at home as well.

Those who using the USB modem try it and gimme some feedback.

Just go to TSTT Customer Service St Augustine, thats outside the UWI main gate, present your valid UWI ID card, together with another form of identification, and they'll sign u up. the uwi special is until sept. 30th. after which you will pay 330 plus vat. currently the special is 300 plus vat

Check speed

this is dsl bridged with the EV-DO

But it has a problem, the link is unstable speed wise, you can see it fluctuate. Much better to have 512k dsl!
