Like all other things, it would depend on the server(s) that is feeding you the torrent as well as your own dl speeds. with EV-DO, your dl speeds are pretty good, so it's all about the server(s) and the routing to you. Latency doesn't affect a torrent like it does an online FPS game...so you should be in business if your sources are fast.

oh ok. it's just that right now i'm using Greendot, u know, the world's worst ISP, and their http speeds are literally 10x better than their bittorrent speeds. but what your saying is that a torrent with a high seed count should download at http speeds? i don't want to make the same retarded decision twice.

Well just replied to your question in another thread but like Crixx mentioned, I don't download from torrents so it would be hard to answer your question straight off.

Here is what, add me to your msn, baego@carigamers.com and I'll do some torrent testing for you with the EV-DO.

i doubt.. more like ''connects at 128mbits'' , gives around 30-60k of real speed , same setup as green dot with just slightly more advanced equipment for roof to roof connections ... likey to be as shiddy .

Eh....anyone know when this is going to be released to non coporate customers? Cause while ago, I called in and they said that it would be release this month...when I called again today...no show, as well as no idea as to when they would be doing so....

Whats even worst is that where I live now....the lines are too f***ed up to be able to run DSL.....

I needs me some broadband!

Been using it at work...browsing was much faster than residential dsl, however pings were pretty high 300 ms or so. I think coverage will be an issue, as we were getting some disconnects in POS, maybe they still testing?

Well I was on the beta and now that it has officially launched the service has slowed a bit.

Going from 200K/s (1.6mb/s) to 100K/s (800kb/s) download speed.

That is still three times faster than residential DSL but not nearly half the speed of during the beta.

Spoke to a TSTT rep and he confirmed that the service takes a hit based on the number of users on the network.

In Port of Spain it is pretty hammered. The same EVDO box that I use at home only manages a lowly 40K (320kb/s) when I use at GATT HQ in PoS.

The pings are closer to dial up as previously mentioned but still tons better than any other wireless service on the island, thanks to the TSTT backbone. The others use Satelite and atrocious pings are inherent to that.

We have tested online RPGs like lineage 2 with the EVDO and it is very playable. A bit too laggy for competitive DOTA and FPS games though.

but I didn't forget you Rage. I downloaded a torrent client.

MicroTorrent. Unfortunately, port forwarding is required to get any sort of speed out of it (and all torrent clients I understand) due to it's p2p nature.

The EV-DO box doesn't have functioning port forwarding.

Don't know if mine is just defective, but it never worked.

Will try to test port forwarding on another unit in the office to see if all have the same problem.

Only some torrent clients require port forwarding such as micro and uTorrent. Others like Bitcomet and Azureus do not.
