I just called tstt, the representative name Robert (schupid #$%) said it would be available in September. But people, i would really advise going with laqtel, since their EV-DO Is REV-A, this is a more powerful ev-do with less latancy. I have a E1505 Laptop with an expresscard slot, so is either Laqtel have an expresscard or usb modem, or else my only option would be TSTT USB.

Laqtel has joined with Paltel, a palestinian company, which would handle the technical aspect of their operations. This happened 2 weeks ago, and laqtel is schedule to launch by months end. I hope they have expresscards or usb modems.  LAQTEL will provide BETTER coverage, since their voice platform runs the ev-do as well, that means u wud get ev-do coverage anywhere laqtel phone picks up, better than TSTT, meaning u wud get EVDO in most of trinidad.

For real?? I didnt hear a word about this. Are they still on stream with the CDMA network? Well i guess thats obvious if they expect to run EV-DO. But what about the towers? I aient hear or see nothin about that. What about interconnection? What about a website? What about a newspaper article concerning this? Gimme something to read or listen to nah man.

Ok laqtel's website ::: www.laqtel.com ( not much info there)
Laqtel launching soon, a newsday article dated Saturday, July 15 2006 it provides information about PALTEL as well :::  http://www.newsday.co.tt/business/0,40801.html ,
In addition laqtel has 200 towers, in Trinidad and Tobago.
Regarding the interconnection, dated Saturday, May 27 2006 Newsday, http://www.newsday.co.tt/news/0,38105.html both tstt and laqtel has signed interconnection, finally you may want to wait for laqtel.  I suggest you wait before signing a contract, see what laqtel has to offer.

Well as for the newspaper article, laqtel has not published anything relating to its launch, but you can expect this within the next week or two, leading up to their proposed launch by month end. Hope i answered your questions.

Yeah, more or less. Although theres no info on the specifics of the internet service they going to offer, but i guess we'll see more as time goes by. Also interesting to see how interconnection with digicel will work. I wonder if they have to go to TSTT or Digicel or both.

If their service is good, fire bun TSTT and Digicel GSM yes, CDMA speed IWMC!!!

Well with regards to interconnection, it would operate independent.  Only the Initiating service provider and the recieving service provider will be involved. E.g.

Laqtel to Digicel
Laqtel to Bmobile
Laqtel to Laqtel,

Note that there would be no roaming on the EV-DO networks, at least not for now, since TSTT operates EV-DO (REV 0) and Laqtel Ltd ( REV A), REV A is a more powerful type of EVDO. So once again, lets wait and see. Anybody knows when TSTT Will launch to residential? or if laqtel will have expresscards?

Rev A 3.0mbps, compared to REV 0 2.4mbps. Also the latency is much lower.

Somebody call TSTT, lets lobby them to Launch their wireless broadband to residential customers. CALL 824-TSTT. CALL EVERYDAY, sometimes 3-4 times for the day. If 500 people call 4 times for the day, 7 days a week, thats 14,000 requests a week. They bong to launch it Monday coming here.

its toll free, i wud call. if you dont call and lobby them shut up and take it, it good for you, because you like it so!!!

It is the bureaucracy that holding back TSTT, with their lame, no incentive etc.  Becausse all the equipment is in place, and working fine.

Well we want choice, what if laqtel is much more expensive? what if Laqtel dont supply USB modems or Expresscards how will those with new laptops use the service? The other option will be TSTT.

more importantly, what backbone is laqtel gonna be using??

REV A don't mean squat unless they have a terrestrial link off the island.

Will that really be an issue? you already have inherent lag from it being wireless, even with reduced latency, will it be sufficient enough to give you what you want? (I presume FPS speed gaming over wireless). If the latency is already high, then having a terrestrial link won't make a difference.

The latency would be low, but still not be suitable for FPS gaming. You should probably think about getting DSL or Cable.

AHHHHHHHHHH this is sooooo frustrating. I've got dial up internet, very poor service with that. ADSL isnt available in my area. When will TSTT EV-DO go residential!!!!!! , i heard Laqtel got pushed back to end of October.
