why de @$$ <-- (Language crixx) would peopel be using and reccomending ie?? mind boggling!!

and opera is great, but fire fox has dominated it for so long that even if opera 9 is indeed better and now free and ad banner free, it would still be hard to put fire fox down.

i alwayss liked the mouse short cuts and cool tabs from opera though

I keep telling ppl, MAXTHON browser for it. I used to use Firefox and I still do as it's faster on a slow connection and sometimes when an annoying java applet refuses to open because of the IE security fixes. But Maxthon is fast, uses the IE engine so no real overhead in loaded (as firefox can have on a slower machine). It's neat, has tab browsing, RSS feeds, and a WHOLE HUGE list of plugins/addins and features that even firefox doesn't have. I not an opera man, but I read it's pretty decent but still needs some work. I am very happy with maxthon and even IF it crashes (which is RARE) once you reopen the browser, it asks you (with a checkbox list) what pages/tabs you want to reopen from before it crashed. See it here

sounds like opera

but being built off of ie, isnt it rich in security flaws?

opera had that feature where it would reopen from where it crashed, but i found that feature more of a neccessity than a cool add on, because opera used to crash fairly often.

I have never had my firefox crash on me... EVER

I use both IE and Firefox, myself.
Mainly IE, because FF tends to be alien with me, for some odd reason.

On topic now....I can't get IE7 to work with my computer. Blue screen of death when I tried to install.
Then again, my computer is seriously FUDGED UP.

if by 'stick' you mean it slows down the entire machine and becomes unresponsive after about 10 minutes or so of browsin, i had a similar prob with 1.5 , and it persisted over many installs,

changed a setting somewhere in about:config, (browser.cache.disk.capacity    lowered the value there)
though  i think they sorted it out since 1.5.0.2 ...

out of curiosity, why do I never hear you guys talking about Opera...since I switched over about 2 months ago, I've had nothing but good experiences.  I like that when the net crashes, if the browser shut down, you have the option of opening back up all the windows you had open at the time (great for massive pron searches!!), I like the built in continued downloads, I like the built in torrent downloads, I like the magicwand password thing, I like the new widgets (especially the weather one)...if you haen't tried opera in a while, you might just like it!
I'd believe u if you were right.

I have been using it off and on and I have to say its pretty but I prefer Maxthon. That browser rocks. My beef with Opera is how it handles RSS feeds. It uses the mail client which means switching tabs, checking EACH feed seperately or ALL at once and then having to right click and select open in background instead of just clicking on it and getting sent to that page. If Opera worked like Maxthon, hands down it would be the best browser out there. Otherwise it's ok and doesn't have anything maxthon didn't already have like years now. Also maxthon is faster since it uses either the IE engine or gecko. Try maxthon out, I am sure you'll like it.

lol,

w1ntry the evangelist.

Hoss I could not agree more. Maxthon rocks.

It did since it's days as MYIE2 before the name change.

Awesome browser.

But the real news here is the RSS feature. WOW. I did not even realise they had such kick ass RSS support till reading your post.

Beats all of my dedicated RSS apps easily. Sweet.

The shortcut was buried a bit but you can add the RSS button to the main toolbar for convenience.

Thanks for that heads up.

Hmm I shoulda highlight how to do that, my bad. If you use RSS feeds, NOTHING is faster than maxthon. You just enable it and then move the mouse to the extreme left of the screen and voila! all your feeds are belong there. Not only that, but it will give you previews of the Feed you hover over!!!

In my opinion, Maxthon >> all other browsers out there.
FireFox WISH it was Maxthon.  I find FF's features sorely lacking.
As a consequence, I only install FF for novice users.

Preach it brother!! lmao. Seriously, I do have 1 qualm with maxthon... IE isn't exactly secure... and well I think gecko as a default should be an option rather than something to select each time. I also here Maxthon2 dropping support for alternative engines... that would suck if it ONLY ran on IE7 engine...
