Need some more details about your situation...are you connected via DSL...dialup...?

If DSL...do you have the necessary UDP ports being forwarded to your machine?

Ok...so you answered the first part...what about the part about the necessary UDP ports? Do you have the router set to forward the ports?

 .. my recommendation..

put sof2 cd in microwave.. turn on microwave on highest setting and watch fireworks .....

 delete sof2 off hard drive....

GET COUNTER STRIKE.. RAVEN SHIELD... UNREAL TOURNAMENT... QUAKE .. CALL OF DUTY... BATTLEFIELD ... DAY OF DEFEAT... OR ANYTHING ELSE!!

sof2 has a NEGATIVE effect on  gaming skills  ,  there are NO internationaly recognized sof2 tournaments ......

Raven is a company that pumps out a game almost every year.. only a handful of those games are actually good ie. Jedi Knight , Quake 4 , the rest are WAY below par .

And to help with your problem.. check your  windows security settings and anti virus too , i just had a LAN party and Norton on one of the PCs was blocking it from seeing the network .    I'v played sof2 online in a cafe with no forwarded ports    , firewall on etc.. dunno why it should give u a problem

ROFL @ sof in microwave

have some respect Trini. That game is a foundation title. A bit long in the tooth now no doubt, but it was responsible for some of the most intense sweat action in our history.

A few still try to keep the SOF flame alive. Let them be.

As you said, shouldn't need to forward ports to play the game on servers. That should only be necessary if you want to host a server yourself.

What version SOF are you using? 1.03?

Do you have any mods? Some servers won't allow you to connect unless your client is pure.

Is your SOF legit?

Some servers require a legit cd key to connect.

What error message do you get when trying to connect?

True SOF was bad in its day, i actually used to play and like it but then again i used to wear pampers to and now i can say proudly that i dont ne more lol. But en way like Baego said chek your version of the game, and duh if is a boot leg well try and find a pirate server lol. And as for the mods....one of the reasons i hate dislike the game, i go only play it if 1) i'm drunk (dont drink that much) 2) no mods used. So yea good luck with that!

Yea for real.....If you have Norton Internet Security or similar programs, they block some ports which is for your own good but u have to know how to configure it....

Also u cud check  http://www.portforward.com/ if u feel u need to portfoward which is leastlikely according Baego...
