I wonder if there's any specific technical reason for making it Vista only or if they only just effin up for effin up sake. steups. I could see the Wine and Cedega people muttering expletives all now. Furthermore this could work against the port as other people are showing. I mean will we care about Halo 2 by the time Vista comes out? It won't help Vista, and won't matter to xbox. so what's the point?

which means halo 2 will release late this year or next year ... No reason really for making it for Vista , the Xbox is just a direct X 8 platform , it will run fine on XP , it doesn't need anything like the direct X 10 system Vista supports ...
Most likely this is a ploy to make people upgrade and buy Vista , like halo makes people buy Xbox's.....

i'v beat most of the game on xbox already.. not the slightest bit impressed.. keep your halo microsoft :p Though the multiplayer is nice .

Well, micro$oft could keep dat. I played Halo 2 on Xbox. Wasn't particularly impressed with the game overall ANYway. People who want it bad enough WILL upgrade, no matter what. We all know America have plenty of em. That is what M$ bankin on.

its complete ballz when you think about it. when XP was released M$ claimed that DX8.1 was a special build for XP only and you would not see it on 98. few months after XP release DX8.1 was released for 98. why cause game designers would not give up on 98. now since MS has official abandoned 98 some game makers are forced to make 2000/xp only games simply due to lack of support.

all this talk about dx10 not being availible on xp is crap. it simply wont float since that would mean either gamemakers are only going to make games for Vista or are not going to make DX10 games or move completely to openGL2.all unlikely. not everyone is going to upgrade and gamemakers have to make sure as many ppl as possible can buy their product.

also its insulting to think that Halo2 which is almost now which when release will be what 2yrs old. insulting. Ubisofts new game (can remember but its the usual cyrtek pun name like far cry) and UT2007 are suppose to be DX10 and i doubt they will be limited to vista.

We all know Microsoft got where they are due to clever marketing, not from the share awesomeness of their products.

This is nothing more than a marketing ploy to help Vista sales. Just as making the original Halo an XBOX exclusive (for a year) was a marketing ploy to sell the console.

It worked.

I hope the same works for them with Vista. XP is good enough. People won't change unless given a pretty damn good carrot on a stick.

Agreed that Halo 2 may not be as delicious a carrot in a years time though. I hope they find a few other worthwhile titles to throw in the "Vista Only" mix.

I'm backing 'em for por purely selfish reasons. Remember, Vista is going to do more than just fill Microsoft's pockets. It will force an upgrade across the industry. Meaning more and more gameworthy machines and less of those integrated video solitaire/minesweeper certified sorry excuses for PCs.

While I almost never trust gaming sites for technical info, this may be true, only at first. I do know there's many xp upgrades planned to bring a lot of vista functionality down to it, so this rather early, and mostly untrustworthy report may not hold true later if DX10 and other addons make the shift down.

lol @ that. aye, that setup is just fine for a lot of folks. doh diss it. ah sure more people in TnT does play Solitaire than lets say , Call Of Duty, or even SOF 2. So as far as they concerned, the PC 'good' still.
