Steeeupsssssssssssssssssssssssss thas all???
AHAHAHAHAH WE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPRESSED BY THAT??

come on!!
First thing, we all know that the stupid card is gonna be much more expensive than the nvidia competitor.

Second thing. THey bench marked a 256 mb 7800 gtx versus a 512mb!!!!!!! x1900xt or whatever they call it.

THirdly the 7800gtx is a 24 pipe card and the stupid x19000blahblah is a 48 pipe monster at an ASTOUNDING 1.55 GHZ!! and it stilllllllllll sucks aahahahahahah

And as we can see, the scores arent astoundingly in the lead for ati.

And worse yet, the behemoth that is BF2, the game to make all cards cry, shows that the 256 meg 7800, has the same performance as the 512 (and undoubtedly more expensive) x1900xtxtxtxlmnopqrstuv   or whatever its called.

Sad
Not impressed

Oh and OF COURSE, ATIS STUPID DRIVERS WOULDNT EVEN DETECT THEIR OWN CARD!!

BAKAAAAAA

Actually I am surprised crixx didn't point out that the comparison they made in Trinis link is a 7800GTX vs. the X1900XTX and not against the 7800GTX. I suspect it will beat it, but not by as much as a next gen card is usually associated with surpasing the last gen by.

actually crixx you are wrong , the card has only 16 pixel pipelines , but 48 pixel SHADING processors , so the fill rate isn't much higher than the X1800XT but it can do more than 2x the pixel processing , and the CORE CLOCK is 650 mhz, the RAM is @ 1.5ghz ...

And the cards will  not be more expensive than the x1800 , they have only like  358 million transistors  vs 300 million in the x1800 .

Stop acting like a child crixx  , have an open mind,  BOTH companies make good products , just once in awhile one outdoes the other ..

Trinithereturn "manners-in" crixx yes.

Well wonders never cease.

I sticking to my nvidia guns though. Just today, was playing Fable on a X550 PCI-E and some some funky shadow things going on.

Scary.

I've consistently seen anomalies with ATI stuff over the years that don't manifest themselves on Nvidia hardware.

Ofcourse, still all for the competition, cause it gets me cheaper/ more powerful nvidia products. Not like I'll ever buy one of the top tier cards short of winning lotto.

Incidentally, the X550 wtfpwns a 6200 AGP at around the same price point (in 3dmark 2005)

With both my 128MB 9600 and my 64MB 9500 back in the day i have had a bad experience with ATi. Both times the card just up and died. I have used Nvidia ever since. GeForce 2, GeForce 4 and now this 7800 GTX. So far i happy.

I dont like Nvidia's attitude though. At E3 i coulda clock that mudder@ss Nvidia rep in the head for the way he was talking. I asking him how much the most powerful Nvidia card on the market could run someone, He laughed and said more than i can afford anyday. I get so mad dread....some poor marketing PR. At E3 they suppoed to be trying to GAIN clients and customers.

They were giving away Nvidia T shirts. You had to register online right there and pickup a card next to the computer and carry it in. I didnt register and pickup my card adn get my juzzy.......bamsee.....them eh know Trini know all the tricks  ^_^

ATi had fantastic PR. REALLLLLLLLLY nice fellas and they were raffling one MONSTER gaming PC.

Man FIAH FOR DAY NVIDIA MC...MC MC MC MC MC MC!!!! I say write nvidia a nice email about the incident and CC ATI on it with a lil big up to ATI. That might get soem attention... neva know BIG headlines: Nvidia a clasist firm.... MCs!!! but anyways The nice thing about the X1900XTX is that it will be priced the same as the 7800GTX 512. So it puts Nvidia in a tight spot since they have a very low stock underperforming card whereas ATI will have a readily available (we hope) higher pefroming card. Man this making me feel to sell off and rebuild...but I need a car so fiah for a 2 yrs.

tisk tisk tisk crixx. once again knows nothing about hardware. Like all cards before both nvidia and ATI when a card is relased  the drivers are NEVER up to par. it will take cat 6.2 to fully let the card loose. so basically rite now its beating the 7800gtx512 on only pure hardware. crixx just sour that nes a noob with no job so hes stilc with his intel rig LOL

Hmmm...seems that either the TweakTown review is flawed, or the Gigabyte card is crap...I'm leaning towards a combination of the 2 :P ...cos I just read the AnandTech review of the X1900, and I'm pretty impressed.

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2679

Personally, I trust AnandTech way more than TweakTown, so I'm tending to think that the cards are pretty good. Thumbs up to ATI for finally getting it right...and having product available at launch too!

actually  i remember awhile back early 6600gts had an issue with drivers... that the cd drivers gave tons of trouble and no games could run properly , the 6600gt wasn't officially supported until 66. someting .

  oh.. btw

Well, it looks like the Radeon X1900 XTX has earned the title of the fastest single video card known to man. Oddly, though, two Radeon X1900 cards in a CrossFire config can't claim the title of the fastest two video cards known to man. The CrossFire card's marginally slower clock speeds, along with a tendency not to scale quite as well as SLI overall, leave that title with NVIDIA's GeForce 7800 GTX cards in SLI. Still, the Radeon X1900 series is quite an accomplishment. If they are indeed widely available for sale as planned, they should be very solid choices for those looking to spend an insane amount of money on a graphics card, especially since GeForce 7800 GTX 512 cards have become scarce and expensive since their launch.

   http://www.techreport.com/reviews/2006q1/radeon-x1900/index.x?pg=1
It is  a good bit faster than the x1800xt   and will beat the nvidia cards in every benchmark that uses intensive shading , HDR etc...   ATI's approach is more modular  and flexible than Nvidia's..    Nvidia will have more all round power but ATI will focus on what is most crucial in gaming today, as it is now , pixel shading ...

But i'm sure the 7900GTX will give it a run for it's money ,   it will be 35% or faster than the 7800gtx 512mb ...  It will surely  leave behind the x1900xt in all the ''close'' benchmarks  where only 1 or 2 frames seperate the top cards , but will it match up ATI in its own gaming of shading?

Well I figure it is faster and yet another review seems to say so:
X1900XTX beats 7800GTX 512
But it's not by a significant enough margin for me to say its worth the money. But hey it's faster then 512 and same price so if I had the money and wanted to waste it on the best of the best this would be it. Howevever it'll take a lot more to convince me to give up my X800XT for a X1900XTX cause I want 100% increase in performance. Maybe X2xxx will be my cup of tea. I reiterate, I believe this card is what the X1800XT should have been to begin with.

well, just looked @ winnys inquirer report and yeah, that first revue trini posted must have gotten a bad card or something  BUT obviously this card is not impressive, to say the very least.

Their focus on huge pixel shading power, has yielded them less than phenomal results.

If you have a 7800gtx, yu have absolutely no reason to want, fear or respect an x1900xt.

Dont expect any improvements either, with what passes for drivers from ati.

But ofcourse nvidia always does magic with theirs.

Interesting approach from ati, even though it failed.

Had luck as always ati. You still suck.

But wdmc @ 3dmark 2k6
i have that siddong home on my machine, and after seein the scores these cards pullin in 2k6.
I real fraid to run it yes lol.

In spite of the fact that i personally prefer Nvidia over ATI, I cannot agree that they have failed with this latet offering. When 2 x1900XTX's in crossfire are directly benchmarked against 2 7800GTX's in SLI, the former clearly wins out by a decent margin when FSAA comes into the picture. Whats more, presently the best available chipset to run these cards is the RD480 which i believe was made for the X1800 line. The RD580 chipset is yet to come out which will be made specifically for the R580 GPU. When that chipset is released, we may see even greater performance from the X1900.

I can't say it's unimpressive. Nvidia had over 6 months on them in advancement - and their x1800xt was still behind. To come up with a competing solution in that time (3 months) that not only about as fast as Nvidia's best, but also is selling in retail for $520 is impressive.

Stop thinking in terms of the architecture It's a black box as far as you're concerned. What should concern you is, you're paying $x, you deserve y fps.

Take a good loooooong look at the high res benchmarks here.

quake4, halflife 2,  - Ati's card does pretty damned well for a solution that's 2/3 the price AND available.

Here's some benchies to show why to buy an ATI card... (it has to do with the X1xx series cards supporting HDR + FSAA simultaneously, whilst Nvidia cannot do that). See it here
