Midway didn't make Tao Feng. That game was the creation of John Tobias. Hopefully, he won't make a sequel....

From the looks of it, the Midway team is well on its way to successfully integrating aerial gameplay with 3D gameplay (and it's also pretty funny to see Stryker do that 'I wanna Easter Egg! I wanna Easter Egg!' routine on Sheeva after doing an air combo, to boot). It also looks like some nostalgic stages will return (The Foundry from MKII and the Prison from MK4 can be seen here). The free for all at the start of the trailer is also pretty cool, too (think every good guy in the MK universe rushing towards all of the bad guys, and vice-versa, all yelling CHAAAARGE!)



The file itself is 22 MB and 1 minute and 13 seconds long (strange, I know, but I guess it's the quality).

Apologies for the triple post, but the Armageddon site's been updated.

The site now boasts the E3 trailer, revealing a few of the characters that will make their return in Armageddon.
I'm currently downloading it as I type this, and I'll let you guys know what goes on there.

Also, two renders of levels have also been revealed: a new stage called 'The Lumber Mill' (OH, the possibilities) and a completely revamped Kahn's Arena, which features a hell of a lot of deathtraps (inspired from stages like the Dead Pool and the Slaughterhouse, apparently.) Returning stages from past games will include the Wastelands (with flaming catapults last seen in MK: Shaolin Monks), Goro's Lair, and.....the Subway? (not my favorite stage, but hey, should be fun in 3D....)

Now, contrary to what you may have heard before, there are going to be two new characters in MKA, namely, Taven and Daegon. Not much is known about them, other than the fact that they are brothers, one good and one evil, in a mad race to become their father's successor. They are going to play a big role in Konquest Mode, and, hopefully.....they won't be nearly as stupid as Shujinko. I mean that.


Damashi: Hey, Shujinko. Do me a favour?
Shujinko: Yes, Damashi?
Damashi: Douse yourself with kerosene and try to light your fart on fire. It'll make you all....immortal. And stuff.
Shujinko: Yes, Damashi. I shall do as you ask.

(cue the swishing of the match, Shujinko letting one rip and one big A$$ explosion here)

Shujinko: AAAAAH! IT BURNS! WHO KNEW FIRE COULD HURT SO BAD?! OW MY LIFE!!!!!


...note the fact that Shujinko didn't even ask Damashi how in the blue hell lighting your farts on fire makes you immortal. Heck, if that worked, those idiots on America's Funniest Home Videos I see all the time would be GODS. Point is, he's that f**king stupid. Anyhoo....


Characters now only have TWO fighting styles, one hand-to-hand and one weapon.
I suppose this is to satisfy the people who haven't been really too happy with the change in MK's gameplay by giving the kombatants a more consistent fighting style instead of two to learn, though I suspect that it's because the team ran out of ideas for fighting styles to give the cast of 60. I was wondering how the heck they'd pull that off, anyway. I hope Scorpion retains Hapkido, because it would SUCK if he gets Zha Chuan like in the E3 preview. Heck, why change a good thing, right?

You can now perform Breakers and Parries for added defense, even in the air, so the possibilities of being juggled or confined and slapped silly by infinites ( ) have been reduced, because you have more ways of defending against such combo cheesiness.

Also, remember that rumour that the cast was sooo big for Marvel vs. Capcom 2, that you had to spin the globe to get the secret characters? Bulls**t for that game, but it's true for this one. You actually have to spin the roster around to access the other characters. Let's just hope the select screen doesn't 'take us for a ride', if you catch my drift.

And....apparently, Blaze is the last boss. Still wary around that tidbit of information, but who would've thought?

EDIT: HOLY CRAP. From the trailer, it looks like you can actually make freaking AKUMA. His hairstyle is actually in the game, listed as 'Devil'. Eddy Gordo's dreadlocks are also there as well.

Motaro finally made it into the cast (top right hand corner)
Look carefully, and you'll see that Meat and Chameleon are also there, as well as the human form of Reptile.

A new mini-game proposed for Armageddon is 'Motor Kombat', a Mario-Kart style racing game.
Should be fun.

Rumours are flying around that Chess and Puzzle Kombat will be back, too, but I'm skeptical about that.

My favorite in the series was and still remains MK II for SNES. I played 3 a little but honestly haven't played the rest. I always was more of a Street Fighter guy. Having a separate button for blocking was a bit strange back then. It puzzled me how Street Fighter could get such a waste of a movie and MK got a kick-@$$ one. I think Quan Chi and Kratos are somehow related, though.

Of Armageddon? No. You may have to search on Youtube for the previews.

As for the other games in the series, check this site. Konqrr releases videos pertaining to the latest MK games, inclusive of Fatalities, Online versus play and the DREADED INFINITES. There's also a special DA Tribute video there, but it takes forever for a 56K to download. However, if it's MK, Konqrr will have it, sooner or later, so keep your eyes peeled on that site.

To which I say.....guh?


My best guess, though, is that Motaro's body structure was creating too much trouble with the game engine (in terms of throws, air kombat and death traps), so Midway had to do something about it.
Unfortunately, that resulted in Motaro changing from the bada** centaur from MK3 to become:



My theory, though, is that this is some temporary form that Motaro adopts to keep up with more agile enemies in battle. After all, having half the body of a horse doesn't exactly do wonders in terms of flexibility and agility.

But, you know. Still doesn't save the fact that he looks oog-lay.
