Students confuse police with FacebookTurn the cop’s weapon against themBy Nick Farrell: Tuesday 10 January 2006, 09:55ANGRY STUDENTS at George Washington University in Washington were so miffed that the police were using their networking site to monitor under age drinking on campus that they decided to use the tool against them.According to the New York Times, the students noticed that police were starting to show up at every party which was advertised in ‘Facebook’ and shutting them down for under age drinking. In the UK, alcohol and students are words which appear so frequently together that the Oxford Dictionary has considered making them a compound word. But, apparently in the US, police have nothing better to do other than separating students from their life blood and breaking up their parties. One of the students decided to use the Facebook network, which is visited by more than 80 percent of the student body, to talk about a beer party they were having. Sure enough the cops piled into the party after it was in full swing and found 40 students and a table of cake and cookies, all decorated with the word "beer." There was even cake-pong table. The photos of the surprised cops were put onto Facebook, who might want to leave the site alone for a while.
