Game of the Year 2005? (PC)
« on: December 30, 2005, 01:38:39 PM »
2005 is at an end,  though this year in my opinion hasn't been half as fruitful as last year in delivering quality , original games....   Most of the games of this year were sequals or remakes of an ealier game ie. COD II , Quake 4...
Whereas last year though many of the games were sequals also they broke new ground in gameplay , graphics and physics ... FarCry , Half Life II , Halo 2 ! Vs a sequal to call of duty where i still cant shoot through wood or glass!
The only innovative game for this year thats worth mentioning is F.E.A.R. , a proper sci-fi horror FPS that puts doom III to shame in all areas possible .
An honourable mention would go to battlefield II, while though bieng a sequal , improves greatly on standard battlefield gameplay to the point that  it offers a fresh new game , but with the same concept that battlefield : 1942 gamers loved .
If any game you think should be added was left out post or pm me :p .

while all those are great games I must reserve my vote for Majesco's Masterpiece.

Advent Rising.

Best SciFi game I've played to date and that is no small praise which makes it my pick for Game of the Year 2005.

I have yet to try advent rising, but my vote would be for Quake 4 - not particularly innovative, but FUN! FEAR was fun, interesting, but the paranormal scenes felt almost disjoint from certain parts of the games, and fighting the soldiers got repeditive. cod2 was great - but i'm SO FREAKING TIRED of WW2 games. best graphics i've seen this year was the bloom lighting in need for speed most wanted. Talk about JAW DROPPING :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Nsfms.JPG and best of all it's without that damn bling crap from underground 2.
:P random text doesn't go out of date does it?

I loved COD 2 it was really cool. But the multiplayer kinda sucks in comparison to COD united Offensive...Even though I've only played it briefly..I like Star Wars Battlefront 2.

It offered so much more than any other PC game this year and it was frankly more fun than COD 2...(sorry COD fans)

King Kong should be on that list! I mean, a game that was able to graph out Adrian Broy's nose....that has to ATLEAST get a nomination!

I second the shooting of Non-Advent Rising voters.

lol @ protojoe king kong comment.

The Battlefield 2 Special Forces looking decent. Grapling hook kicks brass.

Ain't quite figure out the zip wireline yet. Pity the 1.12 patch hasn't removed the atrocious load time though, even on 1GIG RAM machines.

Hate to be Late...but "Gun" should also be on the list....I would compare it to GTA and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Pity that they couldn't get a character similar to, "the man with no name" (Clint) in this game...however this game plays really well.

I also got a chance to play the new Battlefield Game...or rather the expansion, yesterday. It has some innovations yes...however it still doesn't compensate for it's rediculous load times...I mean rediculous. The Grappling gun is a real innovation though (not as innovative as the Gravity Gun from HL2 -_-)

I only hope to God almighty that the presense of BF 2 will rid the stench of...let's say...Warcraft 3 DOTA!!!!

I hope so...I really do.....

*Flip goes in a corner and pray

having played NFS MW i must say that the change in the gamepay is for the worst. i  mean once your over the dazzling graphics your realise its a adverage game with alot of repetive game play. its greatest downfall is its greatest feature. the pursuit feature is cool police chases but for everyone one the blacklist you have to do a chase and some chases are long and take you throughout the city. since the regular races are on the roads of those same cities you play the same places over and over and over. plus the momentum from the first race is lost when you realise the cutsceenes are over and you have 15 ppl to beat. NFS U2 was ground breaking, NFS MW is just boring.

dont get me started with KOTOR2

ill tip my hat to advent rising.
If I enjoy eating chicken does that make me a stereotype

or a fat bastard?
