hard to say , with someone in my position i would avoid the Xbox 360... alot of the  games for it will be available for pc, and i already have a good pc,  eg. call of d uty 2 , quake 4 , Allan wake  etc.   So it makes no sense,  not counting the fact that FPS games usually suck on a console , come on , joyshick and gamepad buttons ? 
 but someone already used to console FPS controls ,and lacking a powerful PC may consider the Xbox 360..

 but the PS3... thats a different story , if  i had the money i would get it , final fantasy , tekken ,  GTA 4 , Silent hill... all them great games that never reach pc/ reach pc years later  ,  next generation graphics ....  if money wasn't a problem , and the PS3 wasn't 500 US , hell yea ! .

 But i would also consider a Nintendo revolution , it will be the slowest , but the cheapest console , backward compatible with all my Snes and N64 favourite games , DVD support, and them VR headsets .. i may screw sony and nvidia and give into my fanboy self and get a Nintendo .

Yea, I'm not a big fan of the xbox. Even now, the xbox being superior above the ps2, I still rather the ps2. And they arn't that many games for the 360 that would stand out and remain exclusive. While PS3 has GTA, Tekken and other games.

And Trini, there is no evidence of the ps3 price, if anything we can go by the price of the japanese version....which is pretty much the same as when the ps and ps2 was released.

the PS3 may not cost 500 US  , but it will cost more than  consoles previously have , this time it IS a supercomputer , or at least an uber workstation , sitting in a console form factor  , when the PS2 and Xbox were originally released , there were medium end PCS faster than them already , but this time the new consoles are more powerful than even high end PCS will be till 2006 for the Xbox 360 and 2007 for the PS3  .  it will cost a bundle to make these  , even with sony and microsoft subsidizing alot of the retail price   like they always do ,  come on ,  a hard drive ,  8 CPUs,  512mb GDDR 3 , and a Geforce 7 graphics processor ?

2) It comin with free LIVE (a tried and true online multiplayer service imc)
3) Halo 3!!

i will buy the first one that reaches a price no more than $250 USD.

For real laertes,it would be kinda ridiculous(but then again ,some people can afford it) to spend over $400us+tax for a console.I think both consoles would be of high quality with good quality games to come.If the Xbox360 has and initial price above 400 an PS3 300,hec i'll handle the PS3 although i prefer an Xbox360(after owning an modded xbox for quite some time) and its this applies vise-versa.For me and some others who might agree,it all comes down to price.

Yuh know everytime I look at Shivadees sig I get all jealous and $hit but anyways.... I voted for the Xbox cause I suspect it will:
1. Be available first thus I can BUY IT FIRST
2. Be cheaper since its a console NOT a PC as Sony is apparently trying to push it.
3. Xbox Live is already up and running thus I expect the high level of playbalilty to be the norm PLUS Xbox live is free with the new box.
4. It'll be easier to hack I figure, so no 20GB HD for long, HELLO 200GB!!!

Personally, I would rather the ps3 cause I like where that is heading, the whole "not a console, a supercomputer". But that whole vison ken has for cell freaks me out a little, I've seen IRobot, and Matrix and just about almost anyother movie when human kind is taken over by machines.

And, if it really came down to it, and I would really want to ple the 360, I could just go by a partner who have it, and that same partner is welcome to sweat on my console. And I'm sure that bago is going to incorperate it in his GL, so its a must for playing it there.

I see men falling for some of SONY comments. THey also said their system not finished as far as ability is concerned thats why they were waiting on next year to relaese the PS3. Now they pushing it up to this year. Truth is they are threatened by MS and their big SPeach made in Japan to make more games IN Japan for Japanese gamers. More than likely this will not happen

In Japan SONY is god. Its Japanese too. wtf is MS? ANother thing to note SONY concentrating on their PSP plenty now. They real pushing the system, fighting for rights from hackers and 3rd party developers and trying to meet the deadline for the PS3 lauch. To add to that the CELL processor isnt finished yet, and they want to push UPthe release day? SONY has known to miss their deadline.

My point. I feel SONY scrambling to finish the console to compete with the 360 early. First man out the gate gets the big companies to sign up first, meaning you get exclusives.

As a "particular person" in EA told me "you own the launch you own the system"

Like you said, Sony is GOD in japan. I really doubt that Sony is so afraid of MS, if nintendo was making a move like that I would understand and expect them to. But still sony is scrambling to finish, ken's aim was for perfect with the ps3, but that is obviousy gonna take time, but ALOT of gamers are just hungry for game so they are gonna buy up the first one that comes out. Sony is gonna lose out if the stick, no matter how "perfect" their console....err i mean supercomputer

But, I'm mostly going for it cause in general I'm not a big fan of MS, if the only two competitors were MS and nintendo, I might go nintendo...

Fellas b4 i vote i would really like to see the controller 4 the ps3 first... cause if it is messed up in a similarly unplayable fashion like the nintendo cube controller i wouldn't buy it (ps3), no matter what exclusive games are available. wat is d point  of having a dread console with dread games, but it has a messed up controller?....(re:the cube)

I'm sure there'd be a way to use even your PS1 controller on the PS3.  Think about it though.  That's something they HAVE to cater for.  The fact that many PS2 users own joysticks and steering wheels that use the same ports will almost ensure that.

Anyway, as for this blue tooth wireless thing, does that mean the PS3 control will use batteries?

Ok fellas, let me say this:

The controler presented at the E3 convention was CONEPTUAL, this means that it isn't the real thing.

Sony is not going to make much of a difference with the controler, the dualshock the perfect the way it is. The only thing is that they would need to adapt fot the blue tooth tech in the controler. Yes there would be a battery pack, but chances are it would be a battery pack issued from sony, not something were you keep on needing to buy new battries. And the controler would be able to plug into the PS3 via a usb cable for chargeing while playing and not playing.

THey need to offset those thumbsticks if they need to pull in the FPS more. Then it would be perfect.

I always thought they were gay but after playing Naruto Ninja Taisen 3 on it for WAY too many hours, I can't say that it's wshb anymore.

My fingers haven't gotten contorted nor do I miss press buttons or anything.

The original xbox was a pc - x86. The new xbox can be called a mac
(for now at least) - that is after all their development platform
Remeber how long it took for halo to be ported? can you imagine a game
using a different instructionset and 3d api??

the xbox and playstation are both using ibm's power-pc based cell
processor. It's such a radical change in design, i'm very skeptical
about it's capability. watching 48 movies at the same time? sure - any
processor which sucks at a jump instruction but has a high
bandwidth/clock can do that (pentium4 prescott - ok maybe not that much ) but the cell isn't
great for jumps/cache intensive stuff. The power is in streaming and multitasking carefully
designed applications.

Well since games are now going to have such a change in design - heavy
use of multiple threads, and verry well balanced at that. That
would slow down porting between the xbox/ps3 to pc too. porting
between the xbox and ps3 shouldn't be nearly as hard though. The
change is in the number of cells, the number of processing elements in
the cells (xbox using 3 with 2 elements, ps3 using 1 with 7 elements)
and the amount of pain developers would have to go through to write
games for either.

both systems are taking a massive gamble on a bunch of yet unproven
tech. I'm sure they have a few demos being tossed around, but that no
substitute for a full highly complex game.
