Well we have the answer to this question... which would u buy first... EASY THE ONLY ONE AVAILABLE :p Or you could wait up to 9 months for the PS3, ur choice.

THE PS3 WAS at CES after all, but it was only a mockup. It looked good, very good, but if you dug under the surface, it came up hollow. The good part is that they were shiny, and that is about it.

The problem is that people working on PS3s tell me that it is far from done. Several companies are hip deep in hardware debugging as you read this. Not that it is hugely surprising, after all, it isn't out yet, but one would expect that the hardware is nearly finalized and the bulk of the work is on the games right now.

Nope. Both are far from done. The evidence was quite clear at the keynote, there wasn't even a live demo of the box, something that Sony would kill to show right now to cut MS off at the knees. Instead they had pre-rendered video, oh yay, that is going to strike fear in the hearts of Redmond dwellers.

Now, if Sony fixes the bugs tomorrow, due to the time it takes to push a spin through the fabs, you won't see final PS3 silicon until March, April for boards and consoles in small quantities. Add another month for ramp up, and you are talking May for availability if absolutely nothing goes wrong.

Sources have told us that this rosy scenario is at odds with the work going on right now, expect debugging to go on for quite a while yet. Add minimum 4 months to the end date, and you have a possible release time. The long and short of it is, don't expect a PS3 before E3, and even that is a very long stretch.

Well either way, I much rather wait and see how the ps3 turns out instead of buying a nextgen system (which is more or less a power upgrade) and THEN have to put out more money for upgrades? No thanks.... I much rather wait....

Funny that you mention it... (http://www.linuxdevices.com/news/NS3591350722.html) I was hoping my first linux cell machine would be a ps3. guess not. Apart from this story though the PS3 is still basically vapourware. we haven't heard much news about it. It might cost 2meelion dollars, blow the fuse in my house and create wormholes in living room. or it might not.

Aye Donkey Konga's awesome. Plus I read somewhere about speculation that the flexibities of the revolution controller's gyroscopic stuff will allow the 'regular' controller to do that, so instead of beating drums in front of a screen, you'll be waving the controller madly in front of the screen. Again Nintendo is making weirdos out of all of us.

From the looks of this discussion, it looks like ps3 people siding with Tekken and MGS4 and the xbox live people siding with live and halo. So as of right now nothing's changed. It's jus like last 'generation'

But honestly and truly I didnt like how M$ moved there I mean, every company wants to get out ahead of the competetion... But they rush too much, and im not JUST talking about all the bugs and flaws currently in the 360 *cough cough* But how they are making an add on to it for the HD-DVD? That was a very stupid move on their half... And I really want to see someone defend that... Now unfortunate 360 owners if they want HD-DVD median for their 360 they have to fork over another $200 for it...stupid stupid stupid... Oh and thats for movies, they havent even mentioned it for games...but when that comes arround, you'll prob have to buy another add on...

Personally, I just prefer PS3 because of a good reputation of sony and the game selection.... But I have nothing against xbox ppl, nothing at all, if anything they are the ones who are all hostile and what not

Ok Proto let me defend MS.. sheesh thats a bit of an oxymoron. You see Blu-Ray is a SONY thing. Its a Sony invention and its back by Sony partners. MS is the COMPETITION, backing your RIVALS standard is as good as saying you're BETTER THEN WE ARE... MS is backing HD-DVD (for the same reason stated above). Because they couldn't here and NOW dictate how HOLLYWOOD is going to decide which standard they want (as its still up for grabs) MS did the smartest thing they could. Launch NOW get ur product out and when time comes and the dust has settled from the HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray wars just pick one and say "Here we are compatible" Now think about this... suppose HD-DVD becomes the standard ? that means teh PS3 is a game console and pretty much thats it, whereas the Xbox 360 will say: "Hey look I can play the new Home Movie standard, look at that" whereas Sony will prolly still be cussing someone that they bribed for the decision on media standards. Its the smartest move right now.

I suppose, but why couldnt have M$ still waited? I mean I dont have an 360 or anything, but if I did, I'ld prob cuss because just to play the media that M$ is backing anway I STILL have to pay extra! All I was saying was that M$ could have made it standard, if you were to really think about it, wouldnt that have strengthened HD-DVD's stance in this war? Its not to say right now HD-DVD an Blu-ray are EXACTLY neck and neck, alot of ppl seem to think that blu-ray would win, so wouldnt it have been smarter for M$ to add some points? Its good that they would be able to play HD-DVD at all, but with an add on? And because of that, I could see some jack making some sort of crack that would be able to use that same add on on the ps3...

All I'm saying is that M$ could have held out abit (and could have even worked on some of those bugs that the first wave of 360's have) and see how this HD-DVD vs Blu-ray thing started to play out before releasing the 360....

As I said proto Hollywood will define who wins and who loses the media wars. MS could have very well gone with HD-DVD which ehem its an official PARTNER OF... however if they LOST, it would KILL their sales. Think about it? its already 400USD with a hard drive add another say 100USD (whihc is prolly the cost of the add on BR or HD drive) thats 500USD for the proper 360, then factor in BR won and HD lost. Then ppl wouldn't see the HD as a benefit and u'd be stuck with an EXPENSIVE extra feature. Also its speculated that the PS3 would be more powerful, look at what happened to the Dreamcast. It was an excellent product but didn't have the feature the PS2 had (DVD) see how important that turned out that the PS2 was a DVD player. LOTS of ppl agreed to get their kids a PS2 cause they too could benefit from the DVD feature. If the 360 waiting the PS3 would EAT IT ALIVE. Look at how men waiting now with the 360 out and the PS3 delayed. Imagine if they launched later or GOD FORBID simultaneously... the PS3 would stomp on them the way Bush stomped on Afhganistan. Think about it.

Ok, well that is true....I'll submit, however it was still a bad move on M$ part, IMO, but I understand your point. From what I know (I dont really follow that aspect of it) most of the hollywood seems to be looking into blu-ray more than HD-DVD not nessarly for its size (but that is a major factor) but also because of more advance features and what not.....

Also, apparently...the porn industry is baking blu-ray

The nrop idustry backing blu-ray??? DAMN... HD-DVD Doomed jed... But this makes sense as they do push tech in the media industry in a BIG way and they prolly want to pack as much content for the money they can so that they can make more money. Ah well I guess it will be a Blu-Ray add-on for the 360...

multiple camera angles that can be chosen by the viewer to create an interactive experience..

possibilities abound wit all tha storage....

or.. it could flop like a couple of their last products... 2.88 floppies and mini disc( compared to what they envisioned for md, the format real buss)

i agree with the blue ray add-on... i doh think it go be tha hard for a third party to make if MS doh wanna concede defeat..

and once they hack the OS, drivers would not be a prob ( pure conjecture here tho)

the whole thing is definitely tipping to blu-ray though i think hd-dvd is a bit better. it supported managed copy first and I think it's thinking of getting rid of regions. oh well

you sure about gettin rid of the regions? it makes sense *scratches head* u have so much storage available, u coudl put NTSC and PAL on one disc... and have a truckload of space to spare..

but i seem to remember that they make money off of regional coding too.. cah remember the physics of it all, tho
