Well i guess me and trinimc agree on one thing.
Soldier of fortune ..should die the death its been honoured long enough man and as much as men cant get rid of the old ...stueps get some skills and play some more fps there are a wealth of them out and yall playin this old game? you guys are right SOF is really an old game and should be replaced but i have beed playing it online for the past few day and there are still alot of ppl on those servers and at times the sweat is very intensive

as for the new fps i think it's a little harder to get more ppl on them because not everyone has the requirements to run them.  What you can get away with on low settings in a single player will get u killed in a multi DM, belive me i've tried and paid dearly for it...

and that is why i for one still play games like SOF online. Games like F.E.A.R and BF2 playing them online in trini for one u have to deal with lagg and then your machine may not be at it's best.

If you were here 2 nearly 3 years ago, you would see much noise from me and alot of the elder heads begging for sof to die.

man i just should give up on this talk ..i am a noob to the forum relatively ..
but i was one of the tournament guys for epic fest and some other international fps and my main concern is if GATT sees fit to go to tourneys out of trinidad SOF is not being played .
what happen to Counter Strike? no talk of if it is a good game or not whatever happened with the CS buls@#t its a good game and i see that you are all overlooking it also is often played in toruneys abroad.
i rest my case ill start gettin on the flikkin servers and playin sof yes i guess all the ut2k4 competition dumbed down, sigh

  YES LET SOF II DIE ALREADY ! THERE ARE MANY BETTER GAMES. 
    Fear multi rules ,  almost as good has HL DM but without gravity gun.. but it  has slow mo so you can buss matrix style moves .
  Counterstrike : Source is MUCH better , graphics ,gameplay  , balancing ( except for AWP )  and the physics make the game much more realistic
  Raven shield for realism bufffs.
   DELETE SOF 2 FROM ALL HARD DRIVES ! please

and note i am not bashing at soldier of fortune i am just stating FACTS that its a  old @## game and it should be swept in gamedoms dustbin come on man what is GATT about?.
BRING IN THE MC NEW and stop livin in the past theres a new era of fps out there and im sure gamers "beside the stubborn old folk" would like to see a few new lights spark

I am inclined to agree.

And if your machine can't run COD  or UT2K4 then you need to throw it in the labass and let some poor unfortunate youth put it to better use. CoD 1 & 2 along with UT2K4 can run on even the most modest machines so that is not an excuse.

Quake 4 and F.E.A.R. on the other hand do push the limits of your system but the experience is worth every penny. SOF IMHO doesn't deserve the attention that it gets but when push comes to shove as long as I can shoot people in the game I will play it.

SOF is good, but Battlefield 2 has officially replaced it.

Put simply, as long as it is in the GLs, it will be played, for the simple fact that it's easy to pick up and play, not much strategy is required to learn (at the beginning anyway), it can run on low-ended systems, and customers will look to play an easier game than a harder one.

well life so funny, cause I wrote up a 1000 word essay response but posted it and the thing dissappeared into the matrix.

didn't have the energy to write it again, so I just agreed with what crixx/shizz said.

the general jist was let it die a natural death.

Q3 and starcraft were once our mainstays and now we hardly play them. It's a natural process as people get bored of the old stuff and excited about new stuff.

For a million reasons, SOF2 has persevered over the years but it too will die a natural death.

It has already lost most of it's steam at most GLs. So fear not, it won't likely see any big tournament action after 2005.

The new games will begin to take it's place on the roster. Not because "we say so" but because they will eventually become more popular. As gamers upgrade their rigs and the GLs follow suit etc..

SnS, the last bastion of hard core SOF2 only recently upgraded. Up till then, SOF2 was the only FPS game that would run properly on those rigs. Try Quake 4 or Battlefield 2 on a Geforce2, 128mb ram and 1600Mhz processor and tell me how much you like it?

It even stutters on 512mb with a Geforce FX 5500.

Long story short, let SOF2 have it's hurrah and promote your other games without attacking it. Nothing wrong with hyping Serious Sam II or Battlefield 2. You don't have to lash out at SOF in the same breath.
