Beating Superman
« on: October 31, 2005, 10:08:53 AM »
Its the age old question. Simply put, without Kyrptonite, can any superhero or mutant beat the caped one. Hulk gets stronger the madder he gets and after a blowout from superman  could he get mad enough to get strong enough? What of Jaggernauth? Mystical invunurability. If Superman gets in a hand to hand combat fight ON THE GROUND with the dumb one can he get his a$$ kicked? The only possible, really possible defeat to superman may come from Rouge, after all she can fly and is also invumerable (isnt she?) and there is that touch thing. Can rouge french kiss her way to victory?

Was superman overdone? Is he just a little too good? Is our favorite alien the eqv of an unstoppable unbeatable RPG char that some fool made up? there is that kyrptonite thing , but its so hard to put your hand on some of the good stuff these days. Ever since the planet blew up the price has gone through the roof.

I think Superman's probably the most overdone in terms of superpowers in the history of forever.
That man's presence alone invalidates the whole Justice League, because he can do what they do, and then some.

That's why I prefer somebody more down to Earth. Like Batman.

You're not really alone on that aspect.
DC's probably comes up with the least original superheroes and superpowers I've ever seen.
The majority of their characters can either fly -or- have super strength.

That's why I prefer Marvel Heroes.

.........

I wont flame

I'll just enlighten the ignorant... Advent has me in a good mood ^_^.

.. buh unfortunately i now wake up so i doh have the energy right now., ill mod my post later.

But just refering to Kaizen. Yes  Post AC superman is weaker than previous one, on purpose.

Golden Age superman is unbeatable, thats a fact.

Silver age superman is still pretty much unbeatable.

Post Crisis superman has to fight to win, and i could name a few that have the power to beat him but...
i wont right now.

Hulk cant,. Ive already been through that.

Doooms day for the un enlightened, has kryptonite woven into the bone spikes all over his body, and of course he is made up of bits and pieces of supermans dna. But he still got owned, so bleh :P

THe second time dooms day got owned, was from waverider, that was intense. He just fried him on the spot, wow.

I want you all to think of this.
THis actually happened already too.

SUPERMAN WITH A GREEN LANTERN RING!!! :)

oh and just for everyone to know

GREEN LANTERN CORPS IS BACK FOR A LIMITED SERIES!! W0000T

I really think that Rouge has got a shot at kicking some supera$$. She absorbs life force and powers in a hand to hand fight she could beat him.

superman is definately one of the most overdone heros of all time ,  i prefer down to earth heros like spiderman or batman ,  i'm no comic expert but iv seen superman get his  @ss handed to him at  least once , by that grey evil fella with red eyes and beams , though he did go back and beat him within an inch of his life .
Someone who can attack his mind like Xavier , jean grey etc. could pwn him , rouge could suck his powers dry , even if she doesn't she can go head to head with him to a certain extent   , juggernaut couldn't do it , he too dotish...
The fella with the mowhawk from that alien race... the shee arrrr  , was real friggin strong.. he coulda take superman on one of his better days.

stupes, superman go get clean up with one rasengen to chest lol (joking....but not really)

But the old superman (golden age i think is the term) was TOO powerful, he sneezed and blew up a galaxy (yet still he used to catch his arse with most villians eh...)

Wasn't superman vulnerable against magic as well? and then there's mental... and then there were other chars in the DC universe that would kick his rear... couldn't a green lantern do it? (not sure on this one). I won't even bother to mention SOME of the uber poerful chars in the marvel universe that could take him out. Superman to me is the embodiment of good and honour etc. Real classic typical perfect person kinda thing. That whole kyptonite thing was an afterthought... ALSO red sun light weakens him right? cause he needs normal sunlight as that's where his strength comes from (something to do with krypton had red suns)... saw that in an old superman cartoon (pre-justice league unlimited nah). But hey to the less informed the Old warlock (Marvel hero) could take him out, he flies, is strong and back then was the guardian of the Soul gem.

Superman's true weakness is magic and not kryptonite.

There is a really nice explanation for all his weaknesses which in the same breath is the reason for his strengths.

Red sun energy depletes his energy stores.
There is a dc hero that controls all the different energies of stars and the different types of light, and he accidently found out that within his power is red sun energy.

Was a nice issue.

And superman got the green lantern ring when he saved pete ross from an assasination attempt in front of millions of people.

He did it as clark kent though so he was revealed as superman
and then he became president of america.

Guy gardner opposed him to try and take leader ship of the JLA away from him.

And after blasting superman through a wall and proclaiming himself victorious and the new leader.

Superman gets up and starts walking very slowly to Guy and saying,
"You know, theres a reason why iam the leader...."
Guy then blast him over and over with no effect.
He then creates some power gauntlets and starts punching superman in the chest....

He breaks his hands and superman crushes his hand and takes the ring off his finger.

He then became the most powerful entity in the universe.
He realll owned.

Wave rider thought that superman was the one who became sovereign when this happened.

So he went back in time and changed the time line so that never happened.

But then discovered it wasnt superman...
So... he single handedly stopped the universe from ever obtaining the greatest force ever from being on the side of good... *sigh*

Then he found out that sovereign was reall hawk, from hawk and dove, yadda yadda yadda

Lord i feel like i was living under a rock....thanks for the info crixx..didn't know there was all that going on with superman.

But i don't think that Rogue would stand a chance against superman...i have never seen her get on bad enough to the point where i can picture her vs. Superman.  Yeah she may have a chance but nah....i can't see it.

Hmmm.  Superman vs Thor.  Can't call that one, but the odds do favour Thor.  After all, Superman is not a GOD,  just an alien with extra abilities given by a yellow sun.
