My name is Flip (oh yeah duh I'm posting this silly me)

I'm having a problem and it sucks...
For the past few months,  I've been having serious problems.
Usually I ignore them but this is too much...
I don't sleep well anymore...sometimes I never do...
I hardly eat anymore...
Sometimes I do retarded things that I usually regret and worst of all I'm sloooowwwwwly losing the zeal to play video games..what does this mean?
I'm I getting old and paranoid...?! Dammit I'm 20 years old!!!
Is this some kind of virus that's going around..."the depression virus".
What the hell is going on.
This may affect people around me...
Jesus Christ...I need some advice...

Dude, you just need to find a subsitute for pleasure...and as perverse as it sounds its true. There is no such thing as "real happyness" only things that give pleasure and you just need to find something else. And if that doesnt work, like talk to a friend, you would be suprised how the smallest thing would build up and just mess up your head, so just talk to them, let it out. And well, if that dont work, then in all seriousness, you need sex.

Keep this in mind tho, despite what people would tell you, alcohol is a depressant, and as "good" as it would make you feel when you drink it....you'll feel worst afterwards... Speaking from experience here...

I guess that's true but still something feels amiss. I mean, I have a job, a nice girl and stuff like that but something feels weird like a sort of isolation. I dunno, it's a weird feeling but thanks for the advice dude.

lol, lets just say...its my belief that everyone has the right to experience everything that this world has to offer....and ive experieced a good couple things in my (somewhat short) time...

But yea (even tho this is a gaming form, and i go loose alot of chakra for this) games isnt everything...so if you just not feeling to play, doh beat your self up about it....find something else to do....there are endless things which could entertain you (some good some bad, but it would be advised that you stick to the good stuff).

Even tho this quote is a bit depressing if you think about it, it does kinda pull you thro (atleast it does for me): "Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional." In the end, its all in your head ;)

way

Protojoe sounding like a philosopher fuh real.

but the man make some good points.

Most gamers go through this I'd imagine.

The early to mid twenties is a changing point for a man, when he has to become, well...a man.

Responsibilities pile on and an eerie sense of "I have to do something with my life" kicks in.

Playing Video Games hard core hardly answers the call. It's the same with any past time that you over indulge in.

If you're really lucky, you will find something to do (and a wife/husband) that still leaves time for casual gaming pursuits. If not, sweat buss and  you'll be dabbling with Solitaire 2006 edition.

lol

For me, it's less about the game and more about competition. I've hardly completed a single player game over the last couple of years. (Advent Rising and Half Life 2 being the only recent exceptions). It's multiplayer, multiplayer and more multiplayer. That means my interest won't wane regardless of the game so long as their are humans to compete against.

It's the same principle that has people interested in football all these years. It's the same thing over and over but what makes it fun is the intense competition. From Intercol all the way to WorldCup level.

Pres vs Naps
Brazil vs Germany

Competition is my Anti-Drug.

Good luck in finding yours.

dude the best solution to your problem is god. one your god can help you in your most trying times. it worked for my sister when she was under alot of stress from school (masters can be a bitch).

But now that i think about it she did do most of her studying at her boyfriends house..hmmm

so i think that sex is the best solution to your problem. if that does not get 8 of your best buddies get wasted. and go play so bf2. it wil be fun watching your druck buddies try to fly a jet of drive a jeep.

Ok bye

Wow I have just discovered I come from a totally different planet than most people, most of your responses have me thinking what de hell are these people saying.

Anyway Flip, you are 20 and i am 22 so i may not be the most experienced person who can give u advice but i really relate to what you are going through...

Firstly, you are NOT old and paranoid.

Secondly I think EVERYONE goes through this phase at some point of their life and if you haven't...wait for it...it's coming.

Thirdly, you cannot let this little pothole mess with your journey on the road of life (as Dr. Phil as that sounds)

Frankly, the fact that you are not sleeping or eating for some MONTHS now worries me a lot.  You have to take care of yourself, YOU  come first in this world not anyone else and as selfish as this may feel sometimes you have to look out for you.

Obviously you are going through something that is affecting you really badly, and it's hard and you probably feel like you mess up a lot lately, especially since you said that you do things that you regret afterward.  You are right that this will affect people around you and you don't want to take the risk of possibly hurting someone you love which just puts you in an even more horrible state than you may be in now.

Have you talked to anyone about this seriously? NOT A SHRINK!!! You are not crazy.  Just someone you can trust and get some good advice from...what about your girlfriend? she must have noticed that something's up.  Even if it's hard to explain maybe you and someone else talking it out can make more sense of it that you cna on your own.  I have realised that as self sufficient as we may seem we always need someone to talk to.

Ok so you say that you are slowly losing the zeal to play video games, that's fine, everyone needs a break sometime.  How can you be expected to focus on game? Maybe playing it does help take your mind off your problems but it can't solve them, can it?

Anyway not sure if that helps if you need to talk send me a message.

Deesse.

Oh flick man Baego....I coulda use that advice 10 years ago!!  Iz too late now!

Responsibilities pile on and an eerie sense of "I have to do something with my life" kicks in.
Respona...what?  I go have tuh google dat word yes.  I still waiting for de "kicks in" part!

Flip:  You've got to try many different activities....beyond gaming (beyond sex too  )!  I was out of the gaming scene for many years...while studying and working...eventually I came back.... mainly because I enjoy the competition and it keeps the old grey matter active.

Um no offense but just in case I didn't explain myself properly.

My "State of Depression" has nothing to do with games..The fact that I'm losing the zeal to play video games was ONE example of depression.

Because it's not only games but I'm performing poorly in other activities.

I usually draw comic art...but by skills are starting to dull..I used to skate a few months back, but the fear of breaking my foot like the letter L was haunting me again.

Basically the problem has nothing to do with finding new activities but it's just that something is holding me back from performing back to optimal level...

I dunno maybe it's because I haven't drink in five months now and I need a shot of something I dunno...
i didn't really get the answers I was looking for but thanks for the advice anyway, I really appreciate it.

oh

now I understand better

well hoss, lemme tell you.

The answer is nutrition, water and exercise.

I don't eat right for shit and started to lose a lot of my focus. Now I still don't eat right but make up for it with supplements.

Serious MegaMan tablet immc. Kid you not, that is the name of the damn tablets.

You take two man size tablets a day after a meal. Talking huge ass pills here.

They kick in about 2 hours later, but damn...you remain wired. 20% performance aura to craw.

Your pee will turn a bright flourescent color, but it's worth it for the buzz.

Can find it at any good pharmacy. A bit expensive though.

Also tried Xango and that worked great as well. It's even more expensive so couldn't afford to keep using it.

Drugs iwmc. At least it's the good kind that doctors and herbalists recommend.

I'll give you a few of the MegaMan pellets to try.

LOL @ mix concrete, Flip boy, i have a suggestion, i am 19 and i have felt this awy about 2 years ago, things seem to go down hill, what u need is something called a "natural high", lots of us on this site get it from playing video games reading watching anime or any of the sort, what you could try is exercise, and i mean running, get blood flowing through your bones. Find some savannah somwhere ,and run, best time is in the morning, early morning, when i did this i used to actually  get energy for the day, yuh could start running by yourself and maybe later run with ah gyul or bredren or even yuh dog.

basically what ah saying is, is to when yuh running let yuh mind think about every tthing, and aheman everything, let yuh thoughts flow to anything yuh could think about. When it get stressful, run run run, until yuh cyah run no more. then hit the shower and relax. this will normallly cause a natural high in yuh system.Let yuh thoughts wander to things yuh always wondering about and just run run run, get yuh mind off of yuh troubles, and trust me it does work.
I am awaken to the glory that is my birthright!!!
