I tried the battlefront II beta .... i'm not impressed in the least bit , still the same fairly fun , but unoriginal , dime a dozen gameplay that lacks strategy .. Basically a HALO in a star wars universe , it has some of the scale battlefield boasts , but lacks the graphics , gameplay etc. of battlefield... Basically its halo with bigger maps , and jedi...
Gameplay isn't much , weapons are damned inaccurate and mostly weak , don't ''feel'' powerful like having an AK47 in your hand in any other game . Not strategic in the least bit ..
Graphics are extremely poor, down to Quake 3 standards , most likely cause of the beta it doesn't have detaled textures but the colour scheme and engine won't exactly allow for Half Life 2 or FEAR level graphics , Colours are generally dull and faded grays or blinding whites .. the only bright colours come from the butt of a lazer or a lightsaber , but otherwise the game might as well be in black and white .
Sound wise its nothing big , lots of annoying , boring voices that will send you crazy after awhile , music is typical star wars.. nothing insipiring .
Maps aren't too well designed , all are some scene from star wars , some take place in crowded corridors , others out in the open where its easy to fall off a cliff/ get sniped . Vehicles aren't too great, not as sexy as your Warthog or as dread as an apache , flying is easy but its a much harder task to take out enemy units when your on some space paltform with girders blocking everything ..
Only REALLY cool feature is that the top player is allowed to be a jedi , where he can run through hordes of enemies blocking blaster shots and slicing men like nothing . Still only 2 men out of 64 are allowed to do this , so it isn't exactly going to affect you often .
Only good notes are its rock bottom minumum requirements for such a large scale game , my system never passed 350mbs of memory usage with it running , 6600gt got 80-100 fps maxed out... very smooth framerate . Also it plays good on TSTT DSL between 150 and 200 ping . Even if it sucks compared to battlefield ,people on older systems can still play it .
Basically its a movie game made to make money off a big name franchise , enjoyable but i'd rather spend my money on a copy of Battlefield... Halo .... Half Life 2 or Unreal 2004.
