The idea is to have the secondary schools compete for a prize.
Gamers representing QRC/St.Anthony's/Fatima/etc....
It is something people have spoken about for quite some time and we are trying to get that going now.

nice idea with the sec school leagues
Would be great to push this out to schools.
If we could even get the schools to have official sec school leagues, so that their would be organisation to it from each school.
Just like how intercol and sec school cricket is organised and well patronised, it would nt be bad.
I used to be on the chess team, and that was great.
Why not have a cyber sports sec school league.

mortal kombat deception ? only person who i know plays that is n.e.o
Why is it all the gamecon style events have fighters that have little or no gaming scenes. Name of the Game had Virtua Fighter 4 and all it was a bunch of n00bs (myself included) button mashing for a ps2. What happen to games like CVS2, 3rd Strike GGXX Soul Calibur etc ? If weak games like MKD can get chosen for national events then why can't the stronger games get the light of day ?
Just my 2cents
School League is a kickass idea.
Another question will there be arcade techs on hand in case of the coinop equipment failure during the tournament / testing ?

RB,
Are you saying Tekken , Soul Calibur and Street Fighter don't have a gaming scene??
We have those 3 on the tourney roster as well you know. Not just Mortal Kombat.
Those are pretty popular.
As for Coin Up servicing, yes, the companies providing the equipment are asked to be on hand in case things go wrong and also to secure their stuff.

I have some concerns. Why on earth is SC3 on the list and it hasn't even been released yet?
Has anyone ever thought of unfamiliarity of the game system and all that? There WERE and ARE significant changes made to the system and style of play that people I'm sure don't know about. Isn't that asking for complaints?
With regard to the MK game being played, do you have a banned character list? Any idiot with a memcard file will want to enter with his shujinko.

Did you see me state that tekken , sf and sc don't have a scene ? I don't know if you read it wrong but my query was about MKD being tournament worthy. I don't know why I bother saying anything anymore, everytime I do I see some statement that makes it look like I am totally oblivious to the scenario I am talking about.
I agree with Imperial's statement as well.

My dearest RB,
StreetFighter, Soul Calibur and Tekken all have avid gaming scenes.
So what if MKD isn't the most popular game on the planet? We already have three very popular ones, let us give the MKD players in GATT a chance to grab some prize money and compete! Like you said, N.E.O plays it and one of the lead promoters of this event is also an avid fan.
Lemme just issue a warning one time, this thread is for constructive criticism. That is precisely what we want. The keyword is constructive eh.
Don't start to get on like an ass and have the discussions break down into a war of words.
That won't help make this the greatest event ever.
I am especially looking at you RB, since you were a part of the Tournament Team, the group instrumental for all of these decisions. Don't be too harsh on the rest of guys that are now shouldering the burden of putting this stuff together.
The scope of this event is huge.
It's no easy task! Help is needed, not hinderance.
Yeah, imperial, good point re: Soul Calibur 3 is going to be different.
The thing is, we want the hype of the new game to pour into the event.
The though is that the old veterans of Soul Calibur aren't active on the scene but Soul Calibur 3 will bring them back into the fray. Hot and sweaty.
Just as Tekken 5 brought us back out and ultimately culminated in a GATT member winning the Tekken event at this years Caribbean CyberSport Cup.
Do you think SC3 will have a similar effect? We are already lobbying for it's inclusion at the 2006 WorldCup.

People don't get your underwear in a bunch...you've seen the lineups there are so many games available that I am sure everyone will find something to interest them at the event. Just don't go around bashing other people's gaming/ sweating preferences because they are not your own...chill

well said ruiny!
and yes laertes, I don't think rb is trying to cause a problem but I am making damn sure that the conversation doesn't deteriorate into anything that could be misunderstood in that way.
positive constructive criticism only.
Your post about SOF is a beautiful example of that and you are right. It is a bit long in the tooth and I would love to see some other FPS take top billing. (*cough* Battlefield 2 *cough*)
Pity it hasn't stolen the show from SoF at the GLs nationwide as yet.
Hopefully the big exhbition will help change that.
Brilliant idea with the WoW and MMORPG bits. Will look into seeing if we can get enough bandwidth available for that. If not, maybe a sandbox mode or something.
In addition, we got a bunch of level 60 WoW players around. They could show off their characters and gear in the byoc area. Same goes for Lineage2 and GuildWars I am sure.

warning oui
I have no intention of starting a war of words with you. It will only waste both of our time. As you said I was a member of the Tournament team, I know what going on the inside. I would think by now you would have taken notice of the games that are being played overseas ie the US and Japan at a competitive level as I pointed out during my time on the team. In case I am wrong then please have another look at the SBO and Evo lineups of games. If my criticism wasn't constructive then I apologize.
I have nothing more to say on the MKD issue as I already stated my thoughts on the matter.
That not withstanding, is there any chance of FIFA 06 making the cut instead of FIFA05 ?

if 2k6 doesnt focus on this coach leveling up NONSENSEEEEE of 2k5 , then by all means yes pleaseeee can we get 2k6 in.
and for real, i mean.. the mkd demografic will be.. lowwwwwww
sc3 is a must, even though i made the same comments that rb did,the game would be too new to the scene for us to know the mechanics of it... and if we dont unlock sophitia by the time the tournament reach.. well then we simply NOT playin it das all....
Oh and we spoke about this already
WERE IS NARUTO NINJA TAISEN 3!!!! WDDAAAAAA
WE HAVE DE CHARACTERS BACK!! SO WAS DE EXCUSE FOR NOT HAVIN IT IN THE ROSTER BUT HAVIN THAT MKD CRAP THERE???
