Silent Hill

To anyone and everyone who's ever played any of Konami's ?? Silent Hill, they'll know that in the world of video games, noone comes close (ok maybe a few like fatal frame) to the horror and disturbing imagery used in this game. Now there have been other action/survival horror games that were ehem.. 'ported' to the big screen erego Resident Evil and soon to be doom. However none of those games have the effect, setting, and sheer SCARE factor that these games have had, at least imho. Doom3 came pretty close though. Its been rumoured of stated I am not sure jes yet, that Silent Hill is infact in the preproduction stages (i think thats what they call it), the script is almost finalised, the actors have been chosen and the director is Christopher Gans otherwise known for his work in movies such as "brotherhood of the wolves" which btw KICKED @$$. Fans have shown their skepticism as the script was somewhat rushed, or at least seems to be. The writer Roger Avery has put up on his blog a response to the fears of the games fanbase by saying :
"The reason we wrote this FAST is because it's a GO MOVIE�.They need to plan for the massive special effects�They need to begin all of the preproduction� they begin shooting in February, after all�. It's quite likely that writing will continue right up into shooting. So everybody relax. We're making a movie here, not just a script"

Personally I would LOVE to see this put on the big screen as it could potentially be a true horror game gone RIGHT. I think the games held sufficient material to disturb even the most hardcore gamer and should thus more than do the trick with the general populace. Here are some sites with more info:

interesting as a hardcore silent hill fan i cant wait this movie can acutally make it all the gore the disgusting scenes the freaky story my god im drooling <im also a horror fan>
re does not come close to what is the scare factor of silent hill and well doom 3 i very much respect the game cause that was a heart race up and down up and down.
this is a interesting one japanese survival horror gone movie.  ill keep a serious eye on this my self
also there is dark waters coming out for anyone craving horror from the other side.<or it might be out already>

i noticed in the writeup they talking about a GTA movie. I really think thats a sh!tty idea. the GAME is good, but a movie based on the game is really generic. I mean how long you go blow up cars and shoot police for in a movie? You can do it all day in the game, but in a movie just sitting and watching, it gets boring.

nah nah nah....SCARFACE is a different story. yuh DUN know that is a best movie. Organized crime. But even Vice City couldnt test Tony Montana. An they makin a scarface game....so PLOI. What woulda happen if Montana lived?
