Birds prefer to shit on white cars, according to a scientific study.

Charles West carried out the survey at Bristol University. Him and 40 researchers counted bird feces on 2,000 vehicles.

The team concluded that birds were less likely to poop on navy blue and black.

Bird expert Dr Derek Toomer said they might "bomb" white cars because they associate the colour with predators.
He added: "Birds do respond to colours."

Did they used this terminology in the article?

So this is what we're reduced to.
Instead of trying to solve world hunger and cure AIDS, we're studying the pooping preferences of birds.
Genius.

He wasnt talking about that, he ment that people wasting time and resources testing to see what colour cars birds like to crap on INSTEAD of putting those funds towards more important things.....

Be that as it may, there are ppl researching what some consider nonesense all over the world. Take for instance I was reading up on unified string theory and M theory yesterday all cause I was reading up on black holes and the ilk. And I came to the conclusion that ppl obviously have alot of intellect to WASTE and I wondered why do we spend such ubsurd amounts of money on something that will never make sense to half the world not to mention solve much of its problems. Imagine we're looking into space and pondering the mysteries of the universe when 70% or MORE of our OWN ocean floors and species of life are yet undiscovered? I think ppl have priorities misaligned, but hey as I said SOME may think it useless.

i agree with wintry and NEO,  people waste money and time on things that don't matter,  if someone were to invest in a few hundred hydroponics farms in any african desert ,  tens of thousands of people could be fed adequeatly and saved  ,   people in india and mongolia die every die from vitamin / mineral deficiency , a few milion spent in vitamins could save countless lives .
And its not like bird Sh!t will earn anybody money or do any good ,  birds will still sh!t on cars even if they aren't white .

Bird Crap Not important?!  What am I hearing?!  What's wrong with you ppl?!  Bird crap is one of the most important elements in the propagation of life.  Not only can it carry seeds it also provides a nutrient-rich enviroment in which the seeds can succesfully germinate.

No Bird Crap = Less Foliage = Less Oxygen = Less Gamers

Understaning how birds choose 'where to release' is an important scientific study in the overall understanding of the Universe!
...............that and what colour not to paint your car!  ^_^

lol @ EVERYONE
i must say ppl this really is sh!t talk
computerman has a point
tons of water is wasted washing bird crap off your car so if everyone painted their car the colour least likely to be crapped upon then we would save alot of water because we would not have to wash the car as often

but if everyone painted their car NON white colours.. won't the birds just acquire a new favourite colour? if there are no white cars around , will the birds randomly crap on any car they see ,or will they aim for a purple one ?  therein lies the puzzle .

Indeed eh trini, then we'd end up with scientific research shows pigeons $hit on red cars most, and by the time we done painting we car we go all have flourescent pink cars with lilac rims 0_o

Dread, I jes went to a site with a colleague of mine and the funniest thing happened. As we got to his car (which is white and in the middle of a whole set of dark coloured cars) he made the comment I now park up and I done have bird $hit on it. To which I told him about this thread LMAO. All the other cars are $hit free.... maybe there is some merit to their research.

Now onto something else along the lines of bird research:

Parrot understands nothing

Bird brained binary on its way

By Nick Farrell: Monday 11 July 2005, 06:34
A MASSACHUSETTS parrot can apparently understand the concept of the non number zero, which could pave the way for parrot based computer systems.

According to LiveScience.com, a parrot has grasped the concept of zero, something other Americans can't do until at least the toddler phase, researchers say.

Alex, a 28-year-old African gray parrot, is not a Norwegan Blue, so he will not go voom if you put nine million volts through him, making him ideal for IT experiments. Being an African parrot he can also carry a fully laden coconut.. [Enough Monty Python. Ed]. According to Brandeis University in Massachusetts, Alex when confronted with no items on a tray where usually there are some, he says "none".

He can also say if there is one item on a tray, which means that he has mastered the whole binary thing necessary to build a supercomputer.

The boffins are working out how well Alex can add and subtract and if he can stop swearing in the presence of the nice people from the media. We made the last bit up.

However, we estimate that if you have a million parents all deciding if a switch was on or off, you should have the same brain power as a Commodore Pet. The only problem would be the occasional "pieces of eight" error.
